WWE News: Big Update on Team Long vs. Team Laurinaitis at WrestleMania 28

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

John Laurinaitis and Teddy Long are feuding over control of both Raw and Smackdown, and logic says that a team of baby faces (Team Long) and a team of heels (Team Laurinaitis) will meet to settle the dispute at WrestleMania 28.

Yet, here we are less than a month before the WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the year and the match between the two GM’s representatives has yet to be announced. Plus, we haven’t been given any clear indication of who will even be in the bout once it’s made official.

I think we can all bank on the match happening, but we just want it to be announced already. Thankfully, it looks like that’s going to happen really soon.

Alberto Del Rio was backstage, but was not used at television this week after returning to the ring over the weekend.

Del Rio is expected to participate at WrestleMania 28 in the rumored Team Long vs. Team John Laurinaitis match. That match and its participants are scheduled to be announced on Monday’s RAW.

Well, it’s about damn time.

I’m not a big fan of this feud because I think it puts too much focus on the authority figures and not enough on the wrestlers. It could have easily been replaced by a much more exciting match—Money in the Bank. What’s making me hate this Long/Laurinaitis rivalry even more is that it’s taking forever to play out.

Just announce the participants of the match, WWE. We already know that it’s likely going to be some type of 3-on-3 or 4-on-4 match, but we want to know if it’s going to feature wrestlers we actually want to see or guys like Ezekiel Jackson and David Otunga.

Hopefully, the WWE limits the amount of not-so-fantastic wrestlers to Otunga and instead puts top superstars like Alberto Del Rio in the match to give it a little more star power. And whatever happened to Mark Henry and Christian voicing their support for Laurinaitis? That sure went nowhere.

It needs to, though. Since I’m not a fan of the match type and stipulation, the least the WWE can do is fill it with the same quality superstars that would have participated in the Money in the Bank match had it taken place.

Something like this, maybe: Kofi Kingston, Santino Marella, R-Truth and a returning Rey Mysterio (random, I know) vs. Alberto Del Rio, Christian, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger.

This would make me a hell of a lot more inclined to get into this match than anything involving Otunga and Jackson would.
