WrestleMania 28: Why Wrestling's Super Bowl Will Be Best Ever

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

The stars are coming out in full force for WrestleMania 28 this year, and that is why this event will be the best in the history of WWE.

Everything starts with the main event between The Rock and John Cena. These two have managed to build a great feud around a simple human emotion: hate. Cena hates Rock for being a phony and a sell-out. Rock hates Cena for being a phony and whining about Rock being a sell-out.

The best feuds in wrestling are built around simple, human stories. When WWE tries to turn something into a crazy wrestling angle, that's when the problems start.

Right below Rock and Cena on the card is Triple H against The Undertaker in a Hell In a Cell match with Shawn Michaels as a special referee. There are a lot of moving parts to this match, but again, it is a real feud that has been built around Undertaker's desire to prove he is still the most dominant force in WWE.

Triple H beat him within an inch of his life at last year's WrestleMania, but when all the smoke was cleared, it was Undertaker that came out with a victory.

Perhaps the most anticipated wrestling match on the show is for the WWE championship between CM Punk and Chris Jericho. On most shows, this would be the main event, but when you look at what this card has to offer on top of it, it falls third from the top.

A match that has the potential to be very good if it is given enough time to develop will be for the World Heavyweight championship. Daniel Bryan will defend the title against Sheamus. No one is buying this show to see them, but this could be one of the best matches on the card.

Beyond the top four matches, you have Randy Orton presumably challenging Kane and Cody Rhodes defending the Intercontinental title against Big Show. The latter match likely won't get any time, but there is always going to be one mediocre match that brings the crowd down.

When you combine the star power of this show with the potential of all the top matches, you have a recipe for success. WrestleMania has been an underwhelming show in two of the last three years, but WWE has taken the steps to ensure this one will be the best ever.

The potential is there and the build has been spot on. All that is left is for the show to deliver what we all know it can.
