WWE WrestleMania 28: Why HBK as Special Guest Referee Is an Extremely Bad Idea

0 of 5

Last night on Monday Night Raw, Shawn Michaels announced to the wrestling world that he would be the special guest referee in the upcoming WrestleMania 28 match between Triple H and The Undertaker.

I think this is one of the worst additions to a match in recent history, and while that might seem like quite a bold statement, I have come up with five reasons Shawn Michaels should not be involved in this match as the special guest referee.

    Enjoy.

He Is Emotionally Attached to Both Competitors

Michaels is the best friend of Triple H and he has fought The Undertaker twice at WrestleMania.

This emotional attachment does not bode well for a match that is predicted to steal the show at the wrestling extravaganza.

When Triple H became emotionally invested in Punk and refereed his match against Cena, it didn’t quite work for me.

I believe Mick Foley would have been a better choice. as he has never gone for "The Streak," his bad blood with Triple H is dead and buried, and the audience still would have had the nostalgia to look forward to.

He Won’t Call It Down the Middle

How often has a special guest referee promised to call it down the middle and either done a slow count, fast count or missed a fall?

I think the statistics would surprise many.

The only reason for having a special guest referee is to suggest that one superstar will be screwed over.

I sincerely doubt that Michaels will be calling this match down the middle, unintentionally or not.

He Will Get Physically Involved

How can he not get physically involved?

I think he will either save the streak by hitting Triple H for his comments on Raw, or hitting The Undertaker due to him not being able to get the job done at WrestleManias 25 and 26.

This will affect what was building up to be an epic encounter between the two legends.

I really hope he does not raise a fist or fire a Superkick.

It will likely ruin the whole match.

It Will Take the Focus off Triple H and the Undertaker

    This article proves it.

People aren’t talking about Triple H or the Undertaker in the aftermath of Raw, they’re talking about Shawn Michaels and something about that just isn’t right.

He is the main subject of discussion when it comes to this match at the moment and it is taking the limelight away from Triple H and The Undertaker.

This is a match for the ages and the special guest referee is stealing some of the excitement away from the actual match.

I have no doubt that people are still as pumped for this match as they always were, but for me, it has just taken the edge off.

They Don't Need Him

5 of 5

They didn’t need him at WrestleMania 27 and they don’t need him this year.

A friend of mine put it down to their age and ability to go for more than 20 minutes, now both their careers are winding down.

Michaels will likely keep the crowd interested when the two men are downed from the inevitable punishment they will dish out to each other.

However, I think that the bits when they are “recovering” will be the some of the most exciting parts of the match as they were last year—what will they do when they both get up?

The two veterans don’t need a special guest referee and I think it will be more of a hindrance than a help.
