WWE News: Former WWE Champion The Miz in the Midst of Lengthy Losing Streak

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

Roughly one year ago, The Miz was heading to the main event of WrestleMania 27 as the WWE Champion, but oh, how the mighty have fallen.

In case you haven’t been able to tell, The Miz has gone from main-eventer to jobber for the main-eventers over the last few months, and what’s resulted is a lengthy losing streak.

The Miz lost in short order to Big Show on Monday’s Raw SuperShow via WMD. This extends the former WWE Champion’s losing streak to nine consecutive losses in televised singles matches. He has not won a televised singles match since the December 5, 2011 Raw.

While this is largely pure speculation on my part, I have to think that this is more than just a coincidence.

Chances are that The Miz’s fall from the top of the WWE ladder is largely a result of reports that he has backstage heat for a number of reasons, among them “obnoxious behavior” and the belief that he’s “regressed” both on the mic and in the ring.

There’s no doubt that The Miz is being humbled right now, much like we’ve seen superstars such as Jack Swagger, MVP and Drew McIntyre find themselves getting de-pushed because of reports of attitude problems backstage.

But I can’t help but wonder just how much this is going to affect The Miz.

In the past, superstars who’ve had similar issues have either not rebounded at all or taken forever to do so (as seen by the names above), and that generally depends on whether or not that superstar is willing to change his behavior.

The Miz has always struck me as a hard worker, but perhaps his fame as WWE Champion went to his head. I hope that’s not the case, but if it is, he needs to swallow his pride, or else this losing streak will continue.

It may end up being a blessing in disguise, though, and it may be end up even being turned into a storyline, like with Drew McIntyre.  In fact, if I were on the creative team, that’s what I’d do with The Miz.

Assuming he’s changing his ways, of course, I’d have The Miz’s losing streak ultimately lead to a baby face turn that gives him another chance to make it back to the top of the WWE.
