WWE News: Plans for Divas Match at WrestleMania 28 Change Yet Again

Drake OzJun 5, 2018

The Divas division continues to be the forgotten middle child of the WWE.

Though the creative team has done an excellent job building up some of the top feuds at WrestleMania 28, Divas Champion Beth Phoenix has been nowhere to be found on TV, and the effort put forth into the Divas division as a whole has been limited.

That’s not a surprise, really, as the Divas don’t figure to have much of a role at Mania. Or do they?

Here is the latest update on the constantly changing plans for the Divas at the WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the year.

"

The latest on the WWE Divas at WrestleMania 28 is that officials are leaning towards holding the match on pay-per-view instead of a dark match, as previously expected. A source adds that whatever the originally planned Divas match was, reported to be either Beth Phoenix vs. Kharma or Beth Phoenix vs. Natalya, that has been changed and now the match will be something different.

"

My ideal situation would have been one of the aforementioned Kharma/Beth or Beth/Natalya matches, but with Kharma still off of TV and no interaction between Beth and Natalya as of late, I’m not holding my breath on either of those happening.

Judging by the recent developments on Monday Night Raw, I would venture to guess that the WWE is going to hold a Divas match that doesn’t involve the Divas title and that the bout will likely be Eve taking on Kelly Kelly in some fashion.

Eve and K2 have gotten into an intense Twitter war as of late, a result of what seems like the start of a feud between the two on TV.

I think that there’s a good chance we’ll see Eve vs. Kelly at WrestleMania 28. I’m just not sure if anyone else will be involved.

It appears as if Eve still has a love/hate storyline going on with Zack Ryder, but given that Ryder’s a baby face and Eve’s a skanky heel, I could see Ryder teaming up with Kelly Kelly to battle Eve and some midcard heel—maybe someone like The Miz?—in a mixed tag team match at Mania.

That would settle two problems: Getting Ryder on the card, and preventing us from having to sit through an Eve/K2 match that would probably be pretty damn bad.
