Jun 1, 2018

With Tuesday, March 6 marking the end of days for how gamers view baseball games, it will be my pleasure to review the newest installment of the stellar MLB 2K series.

The game is priced at $59.99 and is available across the United States starting today. If you are looking for an excellent baseball simulator to help prepare yourself for the fun of the 2012 MLB season, look no further than MLB 2K12.

If you are new to the baseball video game genre or if you are returning after a long hiatus, there is no better place to start than the greatest baseball game on the market.

Gameplay Review

One of the greatest parts of the 2K Sports baseball series is the flick control for the pitching. While it had issues in the past, the company has paid careful attention to making the movement as fluid as possible.

The result, one of the best gaming experiences the casual fans and the diehard gamers can enjoy. Add in the incredibly detailed rosters and each player’s abilities with the ability to control them like never before, and you have a clear decision for game of the year candidate.

For the success of this game, developers concentrated on the battle between the pitcher and the batter and when you play this game, you can really feel the difference and the intensity during plate battles. It’s truly amazing.

Features

The Perfect Game Challenge

While there has been some confusion in the past about who won the million dollar grand prize, the good people at 2K Sports took all the guesswork out of the equation.

Operation Sports analyzes the new method to winning the million dollars:

"

The Perfect Game Challenge is back and better than ever. The new format will utilize a dynamic and universal leaderboard that ranks the top eight perfect games thrown in MLB 2K12, based on pitcher rating and the opponent faced. At the end of the competition, the top eight competitors will face each other in a live $1 million tournament!

"

While this seems like far lengths to go, the odds of people trying to cheat or find away around the system is too likely in the world we live in these days. Having the top players settle it live is the perfect way to ensure the sanctity of video game terror dome as I call it.

MLB Today Season Mode

This mode is not for the most casual of baseball fans. While some fans complain about the length of the baseball season and how many games they play, the new mode in the game allows you to follow along live.

When your team plays a game, you can play the same game that day. This process will last the duration of the 162 game season if you choose, but do not start this mode if you don’t have an abundance of time.

As much as this seems very daunting, if the gamer does choose this mode, they will be able to play their one game a day and keep the game fresh. With it holding its fun for longer, players will be more likely to come back and play again.

Franchise Mode

As stellar as the new MLB Season Today mode is, there are gamers out there that will be moving on to new games before the baseball season is over.

Think of the regular franchise mode as the MLB season on fast forward.

With the ability to play as many games as possible in one day, the casual fans will have the ability to sign the free agents or make the trades they wish their organizations would make.

While this isn’t as intense as the Season Today mode, it’s still nearly as fun.
