Real Madrid Transfer Rumours: Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria on the Move?

Dusan LucicApr 2, 2012

As the summer transfer window slowly approaches, more and more players are being linked with Real Madrid.

Could Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria be on the move? Los Blancos don't need to worry about money, so they can basically sign any player they want, but which players do they want?

Read on and find out the latest Real Madrid transfer rumours.

Raul Meireles to Real Madrid

1 of 7

Daily Mirror exclusively reported that Mourinho is interested in bringing the Portuguese midfielder to the Bernabeu in a deal that would be worth around £10 million.

But there's no need to bring such an experienced player when you have Esteban Granero, Nuri Sahin and Sami Khedira, who are all much younger than Meireles.

Above all, there's the experienced Xabi Alonso, who still has a couple of years with Madrid in front of him.

I doubt Mourinho would want to add any more players to his already overcrowded midfield.

Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid

2 of 7

Reportedly, Jose Mourinho is ready to battle it out for Chelsea's youngster, who currently plays on loan at Atletico Madrid.

The Real Madrid boss is impressed with the Belgian's maturity and potential, and wants him as a backup for Casillas.

Courtois, 19, is regarded as one of Europe's best goalkeeping prospects.

Axel Witsel to Real Madrid

3 of 7

According to SoccerNews.com, Real Madrid could be in for a shock move for Axel Witsel.

Mourinho is reportedly impressed with the youngster's maturity and versatility, and could ponder a move in the summer.

Witsel, 23, played in all of Benfica's Champions League games this season and managed to record two goals along the way.

I'm not sure where he would fit in at Madrid's overcrowded midfield, but he would be a great squad player to have.

Lucas Moura to Real Madrid

4 of 7

SoccerNews reported that Real Madrid are turning their attention to Lucas Moura, after Neymar seemingly rejected Madrid in favour of their archrivals Barcelona.

The Brazilian pledged his future to Sao Paolo recently, but his disagreements with the coach could push the club to sell him.

Lucas, 19, is already an established member of the Brazilian national team, scoring one goal in his 11 games on duty.

Lucas is just behind Neymar in the list of hottest up-and-coming prospect, so he wouldn't come cheap.

Angel Di Maria to Chelsea

5 of 7

Chelsea are preparing themselves for a complete summer rebuild, and Angel Di Maria is one of their top targets, The Sun reported.

Di Maria, 24, is dissatisfied with his contract, and could be tempted with an offer to double his earnings in Chelsea.

Kaka seems to be overtaking Di Maria in the pecking order, and with the Argentinian's constant injury problems, Mourinho could be willing to sell him.

But his injury issues aside, the Argentinian remains one of the best midfielders in Madrid.

Although he wouldn't come cheap, Di Maria would be a great addition to the West London club.

Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester City

6 of 7

Manchester City are readying a sensational bid for Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, Goal.com reported.

City are reportedly willing to match the £80 million Real Madrid paid back in 2009 for the services of Ronaldo from Manchester United.

Their owner, Sheikh Mansour, is a huge fan of the Portuguese star and is willing to offer him wages of £500,000-a-week. This would easily make Ronaldo the highest paid footballer in history.

A number of players including Edin Dzeko, Emanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez will be sold in order to clear the wage list for Ronaldo's arrival.

City are now 6-1 favourites to sign Ronaldo in the next transfer window on Sportingbet. Perhaps they know something the media doesn't.

Conclusion

Okay, almost all of these rumours are a bit too far-fetched, but there are always going to be players linked to Real Madrid.
