Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

When the Atlantic 10 tournament kicks off on Tuesday, the defending champion Richmond Spiders must put together an improbable run that will carry them back to the NCAA tournament, because they have no other shot to get in.

Temple was the class of the conference in the regular season, with a 24-6 record overall and 13-3 in the conference. The Owls are looking for their second A-10 tournament title in three years.

The Temple Owls enter the tournament as the top seed. They finished tied with St. Louis for the best overall record (24-6), but finished one game ahead of the Billikens thanks to their head-to-head victory on Jan. 11.

The Owls are led by their high-powered offense and shooting—they finished 27th in the nation in points scored and 35th in field-goal percentage.

They did struggle at the end of the season, squeaking by La Salle and Massachusetts in overtime, and losing to St. Joseph's. A big victory over Fordham on Saturday does give them some positive momentum heading into the tournament.
