WWE Opinion: Raw Should Air on Friday and Smackdown Should Air on Monday

Justin WatryJun 1, 2018

Let me put up a few notes before I begin.

1. This is an opinion article written by myself.

2. It would only be a one-week gimmick. No way do I propose the shows switch permanently!

3. All of this is under the current Raw vs. Smackdown story going on.

Think about it!

This Monday night, Teddy Long is going to be running Raw. He has done so in the past, but it will be a totally different ball game tomorrow. He will be trying to prove his worth to the WWE Board of Directors.

Teddy has already signed a big match for the Boston crowd. It will be The Great Khali vs. David Otunga. As I wrote about yesterday, I have the utmost confidence in these two underrated stars.

Both know their role in the company and excel at it.

Come Friday night, Mr. Excitement has teased a match between Aksana and Kane. Being one of my "it" girls, I fear for her safety this week.

As you can see, each general manager is pulling out all the stops this week to impress the fans and executives. However, I think WWE may want to take this all one step further.

Either next week or after Wrestle Mania, the company should try a different idea!

Raw would be held (taped or live) on Friday night. Smackdown would air (likely live) on Monday night. The two shows would be the same as you see every week, only on different nights.

Undertaker and Triple H? Friday night.

Booker T at the commentary booth? Monday night.

The Rock and John Cena in the ring? Friday night.

You see my point. It would not only "shake things up," as Vince McMahon likes to say, but it would also be a test to see how each show is doing.

Who all watches Smackdown on Friday nights? What about Raw Monday nights? Why not give the audience a different taste of WWE for one week?

If fans like what they see, you may have made a "fan" for the other show. All parties win, and the following week can go back to normal.

By the time Mania rolls around, I am sure everybody will have their side to root for. Mr Excitement or Mr. Long running both shows?

I am not sure what will happen, but I am very interested...
