WWE News: Rey Mysterio Rumored to Return for WrestleMania 28

Drake OzJun 5, 2018

Rey Mysterio has been out of action since August 2011, and up to this point, there’s been no real indication that his return to the ring is going to happen anytime soon.

But Mysterio himself has said on a number of occasions that he hopes to be back in time for WrestleMania 28.

While the high-flying superstar hasn’t been seen on TV since the Slammy Awards last year, we might very well be getting an appearance from him at the biggest pay-per-view of the year.

InDemand has released a new synopsis for WWE’s WrestleMania 28 pay-per-view and it advertised the injured Rey Mysterio:

“Witness the once in a lifetime collision of The Rock and John Cena as they face off on the grandest stage of them all. Welcome to WrestleMania, the most anticipated event in WWE history! Don’t miss Undertaker, Triple H, Kane, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk and all your favorite WWE Superstars at WrestleMania, Sunday, April 1 at 7pm ET/4pm PT, live on Pay-Per-View.”

"

Like always, you never really know what to think about these advertisements.

They’re sent out months in advance, they generally try to predict who will be appearing at pay-per-views (rather than knowing who will), and they often wind up being partly wrong.

But Mysterio has been gone for six, almost seven months now, and assuming he didn’t suffer any major setbacks, he should be (at least almost) healthy enough to get back in the ring soon. Even if he’s already 100 percent, though, I’m not sure he’ll be back before WrestleMania 28.

We’re just about four weeks away from the pay-per-view, and the only spot on the card where Mysterio might fit is as a member of Teddy Long’s team in the likely match between Team Long and John Laurinaitis’s squad. That’s about it, though.

Other than that, the card is pretty full, and Mysterio’s options are rather limited.

While Mysterio would be a nice addition to what’s already a loaded WrestleMania card, it doesn’t look like he has much of a chance to get on it.

But who knows? Maybe I’m wrong.
