WrestleMania 28: Have We Really Seen the Last of D-Generation X?

Giulio RomanoJun 5, 2018

When Triple H accepted The Undertaker's challenge and said they'd go all the way, did he also agree to put his career on the line?

He might as well have, because it would be difficult to see him appear the next night after a third loss on the grandest stage of them all with his head up.

Mind you, he did sign a nice, new lucrative contract lately, but what will that mean on April 1 in Miami?

Shawn Michaels failed twice, so did The Game, but this time, it is the dead man knocking on the door.

If he wins, The Phenom will have taken both members of D-Generation X out -- a feat no living man has ever done.

A WWE without Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Shawn Michaels would be a strange place indeed, but what DX has done over the years is evolve. There have been at least four different incarnations of the group and this could be another opportunity to return together.

Now, according to this interview, there is something brewing in the minds of the creative team and I really hope that they are not trying to sucker HBK out of his retirement for one more match.

The man left in the best way possible and has found peace but it is in human nature to always want more.

The Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania XXVIII is not officially a career match and Shawn Michaels can still come back and participate in there somehow. He could be a special referee or even lead Triple H to the ring, but some things remain uncertain.

My honest feeling is this: It is good to see Triple H and HBK in the ring together. Having them united and facing the future together is more entertaining than seeing one try to screw the other out of something. The only thing you can deduct from that interview is someone stirring up trouble where there is none.

There is certainly enough time to address all this live on television in coming weeks, which will definitely be amazing to watch.

D-Generation X has been a force to be reckoned with for almost two decades. They are as immortal as the WWE itself. It is very unlikely Michaels will don his ring gear again, but as always, anything can happen so I wouldn't bet against it too quickly.

If Triple H's contract stands then he should be around until 2016 which could suggest more championships and/or high-profile matches. The Miz, Cody Rhodes and CM Punk should certainly be concerned for their well-being because the Cerebral Assassin could be hot on their trail.

A new incarnation of DX would be amazing as well. Former superstar John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler are the two I can think of who would look good in fluorescent green. Add a diva in there and you would have the tag team of the decade.

Of course, JoMo needs to return for that to happen.

In any case, nobody has seen the last of this legendary pairing just yet. They would have to actually die before that happens.

Being part of the McMahon family kind of makes that a guarantee.

DX is good for business, good business makes money and where there is money, there is a McMahon.

If you ain't down with that, I've got two words for ya: Giulio OUT!
