Robert Griffin III: Who Will Browns Take with Third- and Fourth-Round Pick?
The Browns can fill a number of holes in the roster in the draft—even if they do make the trade with the Rams for Robert Griffin.
For discussion purposes, we will assume that the Browns have to give up their fourth and 22nd picks in the first—plus their pick in the second round, No.37.
That would leave the Browns with six picks, including two fourth-round picks.
A lot of the needs will hopefully be filled in free-agency.
Third round, pick one, No. 68
Stephen Hill (WR Georgia Tech 6’4” 206)
Hill is a speed guy with size that ran a 4.3 at the combine.
While some think he will be gone by this pick, I don’t think so.
He has good hands and excellent field vision.
He will be a winner but did not have much production due to the 80 percent run offense at Georgia Tech.
Ryan Broyles (WR Oklahoma 5'11" 187)
Broyles was a top WR prospect until he got hurt a third of the way through the season.
He has good speed and outstanding hands. He is an outstanding punt returner and sees the field like a great RB.
He will fall because of the injury but will be ready early in the 2012 season.
At this pick he would be a great value.
Doug Martin (RB Boise State 5’9” 219)
I am convinced that Peyton Hillis will not be on the team in 2012.
The Browns need someone that can provide a running game for Griffin: Martin is an athlete with enough speed to run inside and outside.
He has above average field vision and a jump step to go with it.
Martin will wait for the blocks to develop before making a cut, and has decent hands to catch passes out of the backfield.
Fourth round, pick one, No. 101
Isaiah Pead (RB Cincinnati 5’10” 195)
Pead is a solid running back and a great value at this point if the team takes a WR with the third pick.
He has speed to run outside and power enough to get tough yards inside as well.
At Cincy, he was the main offense and was still able to gain yards.
Even if Hillis is back, Pead would provide the speed option for a change of pace.
Fourth round, pick two (Atlanta), No. 119
Andrew Datko (OT Florida State 6’6” 321)
Datko missed most of the 2011 season with an injury but he was very high on my board going into the year.
He has very good feet and is a natural knee bender.
He blocks well on the run and pass and would be a candidate to solidify the right tackle spot.
I hope the Browns sign a quality vet at RT. If they don’t, Datko would be a great value here.
That is what I think: Tell us what you think.
