WWE News: Huge Possible Spoiler for Major Match at WrestleMania 28

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

Sheamus has built up a ton of momentum over the last several months, and after his big Royal Rumble win, many are expecting his next step to be a World Heavyweight Championship reign.

To win the coveted title, however, he’ll have to go through Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 28, and Bryan has made a habit out of weaseling his way out of matches with his belt in hand lately.

And an advertisement for a post-WrestleMania SmackDown event indicates that Bryan will be doing just that on April 1 in Miami.

From WrestlingInc.com:

"

During last night's RAW, WWE aired a commercial for the May 5th SmackDown event in Asheville, North Carolina. The commercial advertised a Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan match for the World Heavyweight Title and teases that Bryan retains his belt at WrestleMania 28 in Miami.

The hint that Bryan might be retaining his title at Mania is this: “As Daniel Bryan revels in yet another astounding victory, Sheamus is eager to end the celebration.”

Like always, it should be noted that these advertisements are created months in advance, so things could always change. But this does indicate that WWE officials may be leaning toward giving Bryan the victory over Sheamus.

I actually think that’s the more likely outcome.

Two of the top four matches at WrestleMania 28 are face/face bouts (The Rock vs. John Cena and Triple H vs. The Undertaker), which guarantees two face victories there, and I’m fairly confident that CM Punk will retain his WWE Championship against Chris Jericho.

With three faces going over in the three biggest matches, I would expect to see a heel win in at least one major match, and that leaves Bryan over Sheamus as the likeliest option.

Bryan’s been on fire since turning heel, and a loss at Mania would really hurt his current heel character. Plus, the WWE could always put the World Heavyweight title on Sheamus at some point after the biggest pay-per-view of the year rather than at the PPV itself.

While that ad may end up meaning nothing, I’m putting my money on Bryan retaining his title at WrestleMania 28, even if he has to cheat to do so.
