WWE Raw: Rock/Cena Electrify, Champion vs. Champion, the GM War and More
WWE Raw was going to open with a champion vs. champion rematch but WWE couldn’t resist having an in-ring segment open the show instead.
I’m kind of glad they did, though.
Chris Jericho interrupted CM Punk before his match with Daniel Bryan and said that he was a dying breed. Wrestlers like him don’t exist anymore and he stated that that Punk just wanted to be him.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Punk said people were sick of listening to him but Jericho kept putting himself over.
Punk will never be like Jericho and he returned to take back what was his and to embarrass Punk at WrestleMania.
They will find out who the real best in the world is at WrestleMania and will have the best wrestling match in WrestleMania history.
This was a great segment here as both superstars delivered big time on the mic.
It’s very rare when I enjoy an opening segment but I loved every second of this!
I can’t wait for their match at WrestleMania!
CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan
The match once again ended in a no contest, this time because John Laurinaitis stopped the match when Sheamus threw Bryan back into the ring.
Despite the ending, this was a good match. Punk and Bryan once again performed great with one another, but I would have liked a decisive victory here!
A feud between these two is destined to happen, and I hope it’s the main event of SummerSlam!
Post-match, both general managers continued to argue. Teddy Long ended up pushing Laurinaitis to the ground, which was hilarious!
I really hope this doesn’t turn into a match, though.
Up on the stage, Jericho slammed Punk and applied the Walls of Jericho.
Y2J has made the first move; it makes me wonder how Punk will retaliate.
Backstage, Josh Matthews said Punk was with the trainer, but he is more angry than hurt. Wait, that’s it? Matthews couldn’t even get a word with the champion?
The fans were then treated to an Undertaker/Triple H video that featured footage from their match last year and comments from various WWE employees.
I thought the video was very well done and adds a bit more intrigue to the feud!
Kelly Kelly vs. Nikki Bella
Kelly picked up the win with the rollup of doom.
This was the typical divas match that was short and didn’t feature the champion of the division.
Nothing of note really happened here, which is no real surprise.
If WWE doesn’t care about the Divas Division, then why should I?
John Cena vs. The Miz
Before the match, the Miz got on the mic and said that he was sick of his recent treatment and complained about doing press tours and not having a WrestleMania match yet.
He will prove that he’s WrestleMania worthy by beating Cena.
That didn’t happen, though, as Cena picked up the win with the Attitude Adjustment.
This was a decent match but I kept having flashbacks of their horrid WrestleMania 27 match last year.
Poor Miz, he has fallen so far since losing the WWE Championship. He just doesn’t seem as passionate as he used to be, which is a shame.
Miz really was a must-see superstar during his title reign, but now he’s turned into must-have bathroom break while he’s on screen.
Up on the Titantron, the Rock did Cena’s “You can’t see me” gesture and set the tone for his promo later on in the night.
Primo and Epico vs. Booming Truth vs. Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger: Tag Team Titles
Primo and Epico retained their titles after the backstabber was hit on Jack Swagger.
This was actually a pretty good match. It featured some nice action and kept a good pace throughout.
When this was announced as a triple threat match I started to ask “WWE has three teams?” I could only think of the champions and the Usos.
Then the challengers came out and the Usos were nowhere to be found.
WWE needs to kick this bad habit of pairing up singles wrestlers and just hire some actual teams from the independent circuit!
Their tag-team division used to be great and I would love to see it come back to life sooner rather than later!
Post-match, Kane came out of nowhere and took out four of the six competitors.
So is Kane trying to get them to “embrace the hate” as well?
Either way, Kane seems like he has something to do now, so that’s a good thing.
Backstage, John Laurinaitis and David Otunga complained about the Oscars when Teddy Long came in. Teddy said that Laurinaitis’ job was in jeopardy next week and then Johnny Ace said that Teddy’s job was in jeopardy this Friday.
I think both of them should be kicked to the curb and someone completely different should be in charge of both brands!
Eve Torres then made her way out and I let out a huge groan. She said that all men want to be used by a woman like her and that she shouldn’t be judged for using her natural strengths when men are the ones who can’t resist her.
She blew the camera a kiss then walked off.
Backstage, Kelly approached her and said that Eve was different. Eve just laughed and walked away.
I’m still not sold on this Eve Torres heel turn. She bored me as a face and she’s boring me as a heel.
I also think I got an STD from that kiss she blew everyone.
I fear that the Divas match at WrestleMania will be Kelly Kelly vs. Eve Torres, and the actual champion will be nowhere on the card.
Sheamus and the Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes and Mark Henry
I was quite excited for this match but was utterly disappointed.
Big Show speared Mark Henry after Rhodes ran away, and Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick for the win.
This was the main event of the show and it was a squash! WWE, what were you thinking?
I kind of like the Rhodes/Big Show storyline but Rhodes deserves better than potentially having to face the Big Show at WrestleMania.
I don’t get what they’re doing with Mark Henry. If he’s hurt, then actually send him home!
Don’t turn a man who just had the World Championship into a jobber!
It was then announced that at 10 a.m. Eastern Time, the Board of Directors will have an announcement to make on WWE.com pertaining to the general manager situation.
Please don’t put them in a match!
It was then time for the Rock! Man, it’s hard to describe everything that happened in this segment!
In a nutshell, Rock said how much he loved WWE and that he was born into it. Only John Cena saw his statement of “I’m never leaving” to be literal and he proceeded to get the crowd to chant everything from “Lady Parts” to “Kung Pao Bitch.”
Cena eventually came out and laid into the Rock and said how much he hated Dwayne Johnson. Cena said that he’d beat the hell out of Rock at WrestleMania then the Rock said he’d do the same to Cena.
If I went into everything that was said, you’d probably be reading forever! If you didn’t see the segment, I urge you to watch it anyway you can!
The Rock was great on the mic and seemed to really speak from the heart during parts of his promo.
No one can electrify a crowd like the People’s Champion and that’s exactly what he did!
Cena was also quite good and he really added to the segment!
I can’t wait for these two to shut up, though, and finally beat the hell out of each other at WrestleMania!
Overall, I thought tonight’s Monday Night Raw was quite good.
It took a dive in the middle, but things were picked right back up by the Rock and John Cena.
The good things that happened tonight overshadowed the lackluster moments and it created an overall enjoyable show!
