Robert Griffin III NFL Combine Results: Test Scores, Twitter Reaction and Grades

Gary DavenportFeb 27, 2012

The curtain has closed for offensive players at the 2012 NFL scouting combine, and without question one of the stars of this year's event was Baylor quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III, who dazzled coaches, scouts and the media while in Indianapolis.

The event was a success right from the start for Griffin, who measured in at 6'2" and 223-pounds, which alleviated many concerns that had been expressed about the Bears standout's height.

Griffin, who threw for nearly 4,300 yards and 37 touchdowns in 2011, then blew the doors off the interview session, captivating the media with quips such as this one tweeted by the Indianapolis Star's Bob Kravitz.

Robert Griffin III: If he had to sit behind Peyton, "I'd hold the clipboard with pride.'' Seriously, there's nothing NOT to love about RGIII

That was only the beginning for Griffin, however, as he then showed off the wheels that propelled him to nearly 700 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground last season, running the fastest 40-yard dash by a quarterback since Michael Vick according to ESPN.

Griffin, as was the case with Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, elected not to participate in throwing drills, but the fleet-footed signal-caller performed well in other drills, including posting a 39-inch vertical jump that was also the top result among performers at his position.

If there was any doubt at all that not only would Griffin likely be the second overall selection in April's NFL draft, but that there would also be a number of teams interested in making a trade with the St. Louis Rams for the rights to choose Griffin, they have apparently been put to bed. Howard Eskin of WIP-TV in Philadelphia reports that the Washington Redskins are prepared to make a huge offer to secure Griffin's services.

"

I'm told by people within Redskins they are prepared to offer picks 1,2 and 3 this year, at least a 1 next year to move up to get RG3 at 2

Peter King of Sports Illustrated concurs that the asking price for Griffin is undoubtedly on the rise, and as Rotoworld recently reported King believes that Griffin could generate an "all-time NFL trade" that causes the Cleveland Browns.to choke on the sticker price.

"

If Cleveland's gonna move up, it's not only gonna be Nos. 4 and 22. It's gonna be 4 and 22, and a (second-round pick) and maybe a (fifth-round pick). Everyone in Cleveland's gonna gag.

"

Regardless of where Robert Griffin winds up, the St. Louis Rams are probably just hoping that he performs half at well at his personal pro day on March 21, as every time Griffin takes the field to "oohs" and "aahs," the size of the haul that the Rams will get for dealing him gets bigger.
