2012 NFL Draft: Power Ranking Likeliest Destinations for Robert Griffin III
The asking price for Robert Griffin III just got pretty steep.
The Heisman Trophy winner from Baylor lit up the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine in every way possible and is going to be the No. 2 overall pick in the draft come April.
It won't be the St. Louis Rams, current owners of the No. 2 pick, selecting him, though. They'll entertain a number of trade offers from various teams depending on how the Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn free agent saga plays out.
St. Louis will be able to leverage these teams against one another and the highest bidder with a high first-round pick will be the winner.
CBS Sports' Mike Freeman reports that three teams are desperately trying to move up for the QB and a fourth has interest as well.
1. Cleveland Browns
The Browns have two first-round picks this year thanks to the trade for Julio Jones last year. There was a chance of them landing RG3 with their own day one pick, but the QB ruined that for them. He won't last to No. 4 because if the Rams don't trade out, the Vikings (No. 3) certainly will.
There is no chance of the Browns landing Peyton, but they'll certainly be in the market for Matt Flynn.
This team has to make a tough call very early in the draft, and they may have to overpay a bit, but if they don't land a new quarterback, they're in trouble.
Freeman claims their interest in trading up isn't as high as the other teams, but they've got the most ammunition to make it happen.
2. Miami Dolphins
Things under center in Miami have been troubled for quite some time now. The Dolphins have never fully replaced Dan Marino (who retired over a decade ago), and they've missed on more than a few QBs.
That has to change this year with Joe Philbin in control, and they'll be in the market for every available quarterback.
They'll be big competitors in the Peyton race, they obviously have ties to Flynn and ideally this team wants to land a quarterback before the draft.
If they fail to do so we will more than likely to see them try everything possible to move up the board.
3. Washington Redskins
Plain and simple, this team needs a new starting quarterback, and it could very well determine the fate of coach Mike Shanahan's job status.
Like the Dolphins, they'll be in on both Peyton and Flynn, and they have the money to ultimately land one of them.
But they're not ready to compete for a division title yet which is why drafting a younger quarterback makes more sense.
Moving up RG3 will be costly, but if they miss on Peyton and Flynn, they're going to need to make a move.
4. Seattle Seahawks
This is the surprise team in the mix, but according to Freeman, they have a lot of interest in landing the Heisman winner.
Coach Pete Carroll and the Seahawks have a good nucleus of players, but they do not have an elite quarterback.
It would cost a ton to move up from No. 12 to No. 2, but if they truly think that RG3 is their one missing piece, they could do just that.
