NHL Trade Rumors: Jean-Sebastian Giguere Would Be Perfect Fit for Flyers
The calm before the NHL trade deadline storm is upon us. The Philadelphia Flyers have been silent up until now, but all of that could change if their pursuit of a No. 1 goalie pays off.
According to The Fourth Period, the Flyers are scouring the goalie market to find an upgrade for the disappointing Ilya Bryzgalov. One of the names on their list is Jean-Sebastian Giguere of the Colorado Avalanche.
"According to the source, the Flyers are willing to package (Sergei) Bobrovsky as part of a deal that could include left wing James van Riemsdyk, depending on the goalie.
The Flyers are believed to be eyeing Nikolai Khabibulin of the Edmonton Oilers, Jean-Sebastien Giguere of the Colorado Avalanche and Ondrej Pavelec of the Winnipeg Jets.
Khabibulin and Giguere both have one-year remaining on their contracts beyond this season, while Pavelec can become a restricted free agent July 1.

Latest Stanley Cup Playoff Bracket

Jets' Most Improved Player 📈
The Flyers have succeeded this season despite their mediocre, at best, goaltending. They sit fifth in the Eastern Conference right now, but they are just 13-10-3 in their last 26 games. Their star is fading, and they need something to turn things around in a hurry.
Giguere is not the electric goalie he was when he led the Ducks to the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals, but he is still better than anyone on the Flyers' roster and one of the top 10 in the game.
Parting with Bobrovsky will not be easy, since he is just 23 and has put together some solid performances in limited action this year, but when you have a chance to get a No. 1 goalie who can help you win now, you have to do it.
Plus, Giguere is signed through next season, so the Flyers would not be stuck in a lurch if they are able to strike a deal.
They are just a tier below New York and Boston in the Eastern Conference. Adding Giguere is the piece that they need to put together a deep Stanley Cup run.
