NBA Slam Dunk Predictions 2012: Why Paul George is Guaranteed to Win

Kevin Van PeltJun 7, 2018

The 2012 NBA Slam Dunk Contest has lost some of its buzz this year with no Blake Griffin. However, Paul George of the Indiana Pacers will put on a show for the fans Saturday night.

NBA fans consider the dunk contest a disappointment when big names do not show up. However, fans should look at it as an opportunity to see players they never get to see. Tonight's contest will feature four players who are rarely seen outside of their cities. The player fans should look forward to see the most is George.

George has had a great season for the Pacers. His talents are rarely recognized because the Pacers are not featured on national television. Tonight, George can show the NBA world not only is he talented, but he can also dunk.

During the rising stars game last night, George gave us a preview of what was to come with his elbow dunk late in the second half. He made the dunk look very routine, as if he does it every day.

George's teammate Roy Hibbert has been helping him prepare for the dunk contest. Hibbert said, "I was there last night watching him practice, and there's so much dunk detail that went into every dunk. He's thought this through and has a game plan. Just get ready to get your mind blown."

Keep in mind this talk is bias since it is coming from his teammate. However, saying that our minds will be blown is a strong statement. Be prepared for something big from the Pacers star and most likely he will be able to deliver.

Another thing that is on George's side is the fans. Heading into the competition, he is the favorite in Las Vegas and with the fans. Being a favorite heading into the dunk contest helps a player out a lot, especially this year since all the voting is done by the fans. The voters will know who the favorite is heading into the night and George can deliver one spectacular dunk the fans will vote for him.

The biggest threat to a George victory will be Derrick Williams. He has the length and vertical leap of George and has a fan base along with him. The Timberwolves rookie has the flare to go along with his dunks, which George also has, and it should make his dunks interesting.

If you have not seen George play yet, you are missing out. Make sure to check out the dunk contest to see a future star in the making. It is guaranteed that he will put on a show for the fans and win this year's dunk contest.
