WWE WrestleMania 28: Why the Long/Laurinaitis Feud Should Not Be Featured

For the past couple of weeks we have seen the seeds being planted for a potential showdown between Teddy Long and John Laurinaitis over who will be the GM of both Raw and SmackDown.

According to TWNP News, rumors have started to circulate that the feud will culminate in a match where Long would captain a team of faces to take on a team of heels captained by John Laurinaitis.

While this does not sound like a terrible idea, the fact that it is rumored to be taking the place of the Money in the Bank match is a terrible idea.

Fans were delighted to hear that WWE had done away with the MITB pay-per-view in favor of featuring one high-profile MITB match at WrestleMania.

This added to the matches we already know about would have made the night a lock for one of the best WrestleManias of all time, but now we have a GM versus GM feud instead.

I am a fan of John Laurinaitis' as a heel in the corporate side of WWE, but Long is someone I have grown tired of. His contribution to wrestling is great but he has been using the same old routine for far too long, no pun intended.

The MITB match is a chance for some of the midcard guys to shine in the biggest night of the WWE year and by removing the match and replacing it with a tag match for GM supremacy you are taking that away.

Sure, some wrestlers will be on the card to support one of the GMs, but they won't be doing the high spots that would have made highlight reels the next day.

This also means we could have the first year in many where someone is not holding a briefcase which gives them a title shot anytime and any place they choose.

I look at this as a mistake if WWE decides to replace the MITB match with a tag match to see who should be the GM of both shows. This is an angle they should have done leading into the next PPV.
