WWE Hall of Fame 2012: Top 5 Possible Inductors for Ron Simmons

Justin WatryMay 31, 2018

As we learned last Monday night, Ron Simmons will be joining the WWE Hall of Fame next month. It is a long-overdue move, and I applaud the decision-makers on this one.

In an endless debate of who "deserves" what in this business, Simmons definitely deserves this honor. The only debate is who will be inducting him come March? Here are a few choices to think about!

5. Vader

Wow, what a moment!

Vader would be a great choice to induct Ron Simmons. To play off their history in WCW, it would come full circle for the former "APA" member.

Having such a major title victory in the record books, how fun would it be to see these two together on stage? As long as Vader stays out of the ring, I have no problem with seeing him appear for WWE again.

4. Booker T

Ron Simmons paved the way for many great men to win the World title.

In a very sensitive issue, the wrestling world has always embraced wrestlers of all race, ethnicity, creed, gender, etc.

To have a former African-American World champion (Booker T) induct him would be a very nice moment. I would love to see this.

3. Mark Henry

3 of 5

For the same reasons as Booker T, I would love this.

Mark Henry has been told over and over he can't do something. I am sure Ron was told the exact same things many years ago in this business.

Despite all the "doubters," both men put together Hall of Fame-worthy careers, while all of his critics backtracked on their original thoughts.

2. Butch Reed

You could also add Teddy Long.

To have the team Doom up on stage would be very fitting. Butch Reed appeared on WWE SmackDown in a very memorable 2007 episode. I don't see any reason why he won't be in Miami next month as well.

If my No. 1 selection falls through, you have to imagine we will be seeing a Doom reunion very shortly...

1. JBL

5 of 5

There is no other man.

Their tag team was excellent. Whether he was Ron Simmons or Faarooq, he and JBL (Bradshaw) always meshed well. Add in their history as the Acolytes, and you have a perfect match.

Their history together speaks for itself. Just like Christian has to induct Edge, I can't imagine anybody else doing the same for Mr. Simmons.

No matter who inducts Ron, he is more than deserving. I wish him well and look forward to his one-word acceptance speech.
