Minnesota Twins: 10 Best Promotions at Target Field in 2012

0 of 10

Pitchers and catchers just reported to Spring Training so we don’t know yet the kind of year the Minnesota Twins will have, but fans are always looking for an incentive to go to Target Field, and that’s where promotions come in.

Last week the Twins announced their promotional giveaways and no bobbleheads were on the list. Don’t fret, there are still some cool looking promotions coming up this year.

NOTE: The photos are not the actual promotions given away by the Minnesota Twins this year. The Twins do not yet have the photos on their official website.

Fishing Lure

1 of 10

Friday, April 27 vs. Kansas City Royals—First 5,000 Adults

The Twins have had this promotion for a couple years now, and it’s become one of the most popular ones. Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes and the land of millions of fishermen and fisherwomen; now the ballclub is giving the residents a reminder of the lake. Purely Minnesotan, eh?

Ben Revere Bat Day

2 of 10

    Sunday, April 29 vs. Kansas City Royals—First 5,000 Fans 14 & under

Kids light up when they just walk into a ballpark, but when you give them something at the ballpark it’s amazing. When I was a young ‘un, I got a Corey Koskie bat and I still know exactly where it is. Everyone knows that memorabilia is an arm and a leg, but this bat is just the price of admission.

Mother’s Day Pink Pashmina

3 of 10

Sunday, May 13 vs. Toronto Blue Jays—First 10,000 Female Fans

Not going to lie, I did Wikipedia “pashmina” to find out what the heck this is. It is a shawl… a scarf… one of those fake scarves that women wear for style. Either way it’s pretty cool. Granted it’s not a guy’s promotion, but if you’re having trouble dragging the lady to Target Field maybe you can get her to go for this.

Cowboy Hat

4 of 10

Saturday, May 26 vs. Detroit Tigers—First 10,000 Fans

The Twins broke this out last year and I was skeptical, but they did it right. I saw people not even close to Target Field sporting the Twins cowboy hat during a season where you didn't see a whole lot of Twins baseball caps around. Now if Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau would just cowboy up and stay healthy.

Father’s Day Golf Club Head Cover

5 of 10

Sunday, June 17 vs. Milwaukee Brewers—First 10,000 Male Fans

The Twins had a good one for Mother’s Day and it looks like they have a good one for Father’s Day. It may be a stereotypical Father’s Day gift, but it’s the thought that counts right? If this promotion isn’t your cup of tea, it’s also the day of the annual mascot softball game. Either way, Father’s Day looks like a good day to go to the ballpark.

Minneapolis Millers Pennant

6 of 10

Saturday, June 30 vs. Kansas City Royals—First 20,000 Fans

The Twins are doing a “Turn Back the Clock” game this year and this is the day. They will be wearing the Minneapolis Millers uniforms and giving out a seemingly cool pennant for your man cave. Sometimes retro uniforms don’t work, but it’s worth hitting up Target Field to see it at least once.

Twins Beach Towel

7 of 10

Tuesday, August 14 vs. Detroit Tigers—First 10,000 Fans

How many times a day do you use a towel? Usually at least once. The Twins are giving away a “beach” towel, but you can improvise. It’d be cool to dry off every day with your favorite team or, if you must, dry off with your most hated team. Either way this is a nice, practical promotion.

Tom Kelly Day

8 of 10

Saturday, September 8 vs. Cleveland Indians

There is no promotion on this day, but it is a special day in Twins Territory. The Twins will be retiring Tom Kelly’s No. 10 on this day and it is well deserved. The man that led the team to its only two World Series titles is getting one of the biggest honors.

Outdoor Bomber Cap

9 of 10

Friday, September 14 vs. Chicago White Sox—First 10,000 Fans

It’s a bomber cap. Of all the weird things to come into style, bomber caps may be the weirdest and coolest. The Twins are handing this out in early September so you can get it all ready for the chilly playoff run… or just have a very stylish hat.

10 of 10

Friday, May 25 vs. Detroit Tigers, Friday, July 27 vs. Cleveland Indians, and Friday, August 10 vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Isn't it beautiful? Fireworks are a wonderful piece of Americana, just like baseball. Combine the two with the Minneapolis skyline, and it results in a must-see event. It may not be the biggest fireworks show, it may not be the best, but it will be pretty. It’s worth going to the ballpark.
