WWE Elimination Chamber 2012: Why Dolph Ziggler Must Have a Good Showing

Michael DixonFeb 16, 2012

The last thing the WWE needs heading into Wrestlemania is an excuse to be lazy with the stars that they develop.

Dolph Ziggler is the perfect example of a very good wrestler on the brink of stardom.

One good performance will easily push him over the edge.

With the exception of Daniel Bryan, the main-event scene has been clogged with the same guys for a long time. CM Punk has been a breath of fresh air, but his presence in the main event is nothing new.

Ziggler is made for the Elimination Chamber.

He does a lot of things well, but nothing is on par with his ability to sell moves, making his opponents look good.

Nobody in the WWE does that any better, and that is important.

When you are in the ring with five other Superstars, there are plenty of opportunities to make them look good.

Doing this will not only make Ziggler look favorable in the eyes of the WWE brass, but could also potentially make stagnant characters like the Miz and R-Truth look good in the ring.

There is nothing wrong with the group of main-eventers that the WWE falls back on. All are fine at what they do but when you're looking at a company that doesn't take time off throughout the year, things are bound to get stale; that is what has happened in Titan Land.

With Ziggler, you have a guy who can be thrown into different feuds at the main event level. He brings the main event (and main eventers) new life, and that's something that is desperately needed.

The problem is that if Ziggler goes out and lays an egg, it only gives the WWE more reason to stick with the current group.

If a person right between upper-midcard and main event can't give a good performance in a match made for him, why could anyone else be expected to?

For the record, I don't agree with that logic, but history tells me that we're going to see that followed. Ziggler is the most important figure in this match and he has to bring his A-Game.

Without it, we're going to see more of the same heading into WrestleMania and beyond.
