Peyton Manning: New Jobs Colts QB Could Take If Forced to Retire from NFL
According to the Indianapolis Star and SI.com, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning has had four surgical procedures on his neck.
This is a new development in the seemingly never-ending saga involving the star signal-caller's overall health and return to the NFL.
From the Indianapolis Star report: "SI.com reported the Colts are concerned Manning's neck problems may have reached the chronic stage and there could be a genetic aspect to his condition."
In that same article, it states that Manning wanted to play against the Houston Texans on December 22nd or in the season finale on January 1st in red zone situations. However, neurosurgeon Hank Feuer would not clear Manning to play.
With this fresh, somber news on the Colts legend, the chances of him getting on the field in 2012 have decreased once again.
No need to worry No. 18, you could just walk right into these jobs...
1. Offensive Assistant
1 of 3We've never seen a marque player make such a quick move from the field to the sideline as a coach, but Manning could be the guy that should start the trend.
There's no telling if he would want to take this type of position, but I bet just about every team would love to have him overseeing the intricacies of their offense.
Sure, there are a ton of egotistical head coaches and offensive coordinators in the league that believe they have all the answers. That's why Manning would simply be an offensive "assistant" and chime in if and when things go awry.
No matter how big my ego got as an accomplished offensive "guru," I'd welcome Mr. Manning on my side to give pointers and help my team.
2. NFL Analyst
2 of 3Is there any current player that knows the game better than Peyton Manning.
No.
He's demonstrated a calm demeanor in front of the camera for the duration of his time in the NFL and has appeared in a variety of commercials.
I'd love to hear Manning break down specific plays and games, given his distinction as one of the best quarterbacks to ever live.
It seems like every TV network has about six or seven pre and postgame analysts that can go off on unscripted rants that typically make us change the station, but Manning's insight would certainly be interesting.
3. Any Companies Advertisement Figurehead
3 of 3During his 14-year NFL career, we've seen Manning on various commercials for many of his sponsors.
He's amazing in front of the camera, and the majority of his ads are witty and downright funny.
Peyton has the type of personality that everyone can relate to, and he isn't afraid to poke fun at himself.
He's gold on the DirecTV and Sprint commercials.
Why not rack up a few more million by doing a handful of TV advertisement spots?
