WWE News: Wrestlemania 29 Officially Slated for the Garden State

According to WWE.com, New Jersey has been given the nod to host "The Grandest Stage of Them All" in 2013.

East Rutherford, N.J.’s MetLife Stadium has played host to the NFL Playoffs, two NCAA college tournaments, five international team soccer games, and historic concerts from the likes of U2, The Eagles and Bon Jovi. And now, it’s getting its first WrestleMania.

For the first time, The Show of Shows is headed to New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, home to the New York Jets and the Super Bowl XLVI Champion New York Giants, will host WrestleMania XXIX on Sunday, April 7, 2013.

The traditional WrestleMania Week activities, including WrestleMania Axxess, the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, and Monday Night Raw will take place across the New York/New Jersey area in the days leading up to the show.

This is huge news for the state, as it will be a precursor of roughly what to expect one year later when they host Super Bowl XLVIII in the same venue. The article also mentioned that there will be an official press conference on February 16th at 11 AM.

Some notable names slated to attend the press conference are New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, John Cena, Vince McMahon, Triple H and The Rock. That's right, The Rock will also be in attendance, so who knows what that means for his WWE future?

Chances are, they are just using him while they still have him under some sort of contract to help build hype about the big announcement.

New Jersey is no stranger to WrestleMania, as both IV and V were held in Atlantic City. This will mark the first time that the WWE will have an outdoor WrestleMania in an unpredictable climate. The previous two were held in Nevada and Florida, both of which were more likely to have fair whether in April than New Jersey.

I guess we shall get a preview of what to expect on Thursday.
