Fantasy Baseball Team Names: Awesome Monikers to Make Your Team Stand Out

Coming up with a creative fantasy baseball team name isn't easy. If I had $1 for every time I played against “Joe's Sluggers” or “Mark's Aces” I would be chilling in a luxury box instead of the cheap seats. So it's a good challenge to come with something a little more unique.

To help you in that quest, here are a couple suggestions. As you will see, using a player's name as a jumping off point is always a good start.

Turn Left On Huston Street

Huston Street, who will be attempting to fill the shoes of Heath Bell with the San Diego Padres this season, has always been a fantasy team name favorite. He has two names that are ripe for the picking in terms of good ideas.

In my opinion, this one is the best of them all. It's something everybody can relate to because anytime somebody gives directions or you print them off the Internet, the phrase turn left or right on to a street appears a dozen times.

The Uggla Ducklings

Dan Uggla had a pretty ugly season in 2011, at least for the first half, so this name makes plenty of sense while also harkening back to a story everybody learned as a kid. Cross references like that always led to terrific team names.

It also fits the essence of Uggla perfectly. He might strike out too much and his defense is often pretty ugly to say the least, but when he gets a hold of a pitch it's a sight to behold. When everything comes in a complete circle like that, you know it's a good fantasy name.

Braun In 60 Seconds

Every baseball fan knows by now that Ryan Braun is appealing a failed test for performance enhancing drugs after his MVP season in 2011. That's why this name is perfect, he's gone from on top of the baseball world to turmoil in a heartbeat.

Fans should hope the situation doesn't leave a lasting impact, however. He's one of the game's best young hitters and just when everybody thought the game was finally clean the last thing MLB needs is a rash of positive tests to screw things up again.

Nevertheless, great team name.
