WWE Elimination Chamber 2012: 5 Questions That Need to Be Answered

David LevinFeb 15, 2012

Am I the only one who is not excited about the upcoming Elimination Chamber PPV this Sunday?

After seeing a so-so Royal Rumble and the beginnings of a true lead to WrestleMania 28, I get the feeling this Sunday will fall short (shocker) and we fans will be left feeling a little empty in our wallets and our love of what just happened.

Injuries, botched storylines and now the last-second replacement of Randy Orton on Sunday. What is going on with the WWE? Another attempt at greatness shot down by overzealousness?

We know who the participants in the two Chamber matches are going to be, and we know about Cena/Kane and Beth Phoenix and Tamina, which I think will be a great match to follow. But what about the rest of the card? Can it deliver?

Here are some questions that need to be answered Sunday night moving forward.

Why Santino Marella and Not Drew McIntyre?

1 of 5

The injury by Randy Orton (he sustained it in a match with Big Show) actually could have proven to be a golden opportunity and of course, WWE brass missed it.

Santino Marella is replacing Orton in the main event of the PPV. But wouldn't Drew McIntyre have been a better choice?

A considerable losing streak by McIntyre followed by a win and an invite to the Chamber? It is the stuff Barry Horowitz would have been proud of.

And since we know Marella will be the first opponent eliminated in the Chamber Sunday night, should we just have five competitors and get it over with?

Are We Going to See More of the Zack Ryder/Kane/Cena Angle?

2 of 5

I hope not.

I did not think we would see Eve kiss Cena Monday night and the bad acting to continue. All three of them are making me pine for soap operas.

But the angle somehow needs to stop. Since we saw Ryder injured again (I swear he has more than nine lives), Ryder needs to go away for a while and come back heel and challenge Cena.

But please leave both Eve and Ryder off the guest list for the Elimination Chamber.

Will Tamina Beat Beth Phoenix?

3 of 5

It would be good for business and have the two feud for a bit. But I think Tamina loses this match to Phoenix and the rivalry builds a bit.

The Divas need that kind of momentum. Also, you have to wonder what happens with Kharma now that these two women are battling. Does she fit in the plans of creative? Can she be a player in this battle and does three divas feuding make sense or does Tamina and Kharma vs. Phoenix and Natalya make more sense?

Can Kofi Kingston Win the Raw Elimination Chamber?

4 of 5

Yes, but he won't.

I love the idea of Kingston getting a push like this right now, but looking at the competition. It is hard for me to see him matching up against the likes of any of these wrestlers when the money is on the line.

I do think, however, a Kingston/Jericho feud if written correctly would be epic.

Who Wins SmackDown's Elimination Chamber?

5 of 5

I was set to pick Randy Orton, but now I cannot do that.

I think Wade Barrett not only wins, but takes out the champion and the World Title. This sets up a Barrett/Sheamus match at WrestleMania and could set up a nice battle between someone like Daniel Bryan and Cody Rhodes or if Christian returns in time.

There needs to be a real spark on SmackDown.
