WWE: The Miz's New Persona Is a Terrible Fit for Him

Giulio RomanoJun 6, 2018

The Miz

At this same time last year, the man was number one and the WWE Champion heading into WrestleMania XXVII to face his nemesis, John Cena.

How the mighty have fallen.

For a while now, company officials saw fit to brand the Awesome One with a label stating he was a new, more vicious character. A few months ago, it was actually filled with potential and he was even inserted back into the championship scene.

This new persona showed promise and in the space of two weeks, Miz took out (kayfabe) R-Truth and John Morrison, much to his fan's delight. What happened to that?

It seems like what was meant to be new and destructive turned out to be the same thing as before: a man made to look as a cowardly villain losing to midcarders.

Characters need to evolve if they are to remain afloat and it appears that The Miz's current gimmick may have run its course. I am not taking anything away from him at all. He is cool, entertaining and funny but no one will ever believe he is a total "bad ass" so forcing that on the average fan is an automatic fail right now.

No one knows if it will always be so but on February 13th, 2012...The Miz is in an awkward place.

When it comes down to it, what new attitude are people talking about anyway? He is still the same guy he was last year, the difference is he hasn't held gold in ages and that is a bad thing. Two or three beatings do not equal a new persona. Running away from an opponent or fight does not win you over new fans either so let's figure out a solution.

Move to SmackDown where you will not be in the shadow of John Cena and WWE Champion CM Punk. Become the top "heel" of Friday nights like I know you can be and easily I might add. There is a lot of room for a Superstar of his caliber, so why not give it a try.

A "face" turn would definitely be something unexpected as well. Heroes can assume the "bad ass" role much easier and you get the fans cheering which serves to pump up that ever-important adrenaline and lead you to victory.

These are wise solutions but only time will tell if they come to pass. Until then, The Miz needs to take a step back, breath and start taking control of things once more because this "thing" going on right now, is a disaster. Being made to look weak only works against him.

My favorite Superstar needs to head into WrestleMania XXVIII with a huge program in order to get his mojo back. Should he be victorious, that would make him 3-0 and restore some lost credibility to that character he treasures so much.

Never doubt his resolve, for though things look bleak in the Awesome One's life right now, he will rise to prominence again.

2012 will be even more awesome than before.
