WWE Elimination Chamber 2009: Ranking the 6 Smackdown Participants
The Elimination Chamber event produced by WWE in 2009 was excellent. The entire show was well done, and I remember it fondly to this day.
With my home state hosting the Chamber in eight days, I can only hope to see an equally amazing show live! Back to 2009, there were two Chamber matches on that night.
Here the top Smackdown wrestlers!
6. Edge
1 of 6I am sorry, but he has to be last.
He entered the Chamber as WWE Champion. He started the match and was eliminated in a few minutes. Edge may have had the worst performance in Chamber history!
His night did end on a positive note, though!
5. Kozlov
2 of 6Kozlov is the perfect example as something that looked great "on paper," but never worked.
Fans often like to "fantasy book" certain situations and pretend they will get over big with the crowd. Well, I live in the real world. Things do not always go according to plan.
That was Kozlov. He beat wrestlers. From lower card talent to main event talent, he beat them all and did not get over with the crowd one bit.
His biggest victory was a clean win over Undertaker on Smackdown. Still? It still did not translate. His performance in the Chamber was the exact same thing.
He came in, did his thing, and was gone.
4. Big Show
3 of 6Big Show had a nice night here.
He did not win the match, but he eventually found himself in the World Title picture at WrestleMania. That is all that matters in the end.
He was eliminated thanks to Undertaker, Triple H and Jeff Hardy! There was no way out of that mess for Big Show...
3. Jeff Hardy
4 of 6Jeff Hardy pinned Edge to begin this match. Considering the champion was out of contention right off the bat, this was going to be an intense finish!
Sadly for Jeff, there was no way he was going to be given a WrestleMania main event match. That just was not going to happen in 2009.
He put up a great fight, but a Tombstone from Undertaker ended his night.
2. Undertaker
5 of 6I love that promo.
Undertaker made it to the final two here, but his path was clearly heading to face Shawn Michaels at 'Mania. There was no reason for him to win this match.
Lucky for us, he and Triple H put on an amazing back and forth contest to close this match. Kickouts! Finishers! These two did it all.
After a long battle and multiple Pedigrees, Taker fell to a rare pin fall loss.
1. Triple H
6 of 6This match was for the WWE Championship.
Randy Orton had won the Royal Rumble a month prior. Thus, it was clear where he was headed. His battle with the McMahon family had already began. The next chapter was including Triple H.
The Game picked up another Chamber win here defeating Undertaker in the middle of the ring, and entered an excellent feud with Randy Orton heading into Wrestle Mania XXV.
Triple H may have won the top spot, but I give praise to all the Smackdown participants!
