WWE SmackDown: Is WWE Setting Up a Big Show vs Sheamus Match at WrestleMania?

Last night on WWE SmackDown there were some interesting seeds planted which could point to who will walk out of the SmackDown elimination Chamber match as World Champion.

During the opening of the show Sheamus came out to address why he was waiting to pick his WrestleMania opponent until after the Chamber match.

Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes made their opinions known, but it was Big Show who ended up having the most interesting segment with Sheamus.

He seemed to be proposing a match based on mutual respect between he and Sheamus and WrestleMania, but that is only if Show wins the title of course.

After the tag match where Sheamus and Show beat Rhodes and Barrett, Show pointed to the WrestleMania sign and he and Sheamus both smiled, giving each other a Mandel-style fist bump in a show of respect.

If WWE is looking to take the title off of Bryan before Mania then I think having Show win it in the Chamber and go on to face Sheamus would be a great idea.

CM Punk will most likely be facing Chris Jericho since they have now entered into the feud everyone saw coming when Jericho first returned and WWE management may not see Bryan as a big enough star to be one of the headliners of WrestleMania yet.

Big Show is someone WWE can rely on in a big match situation and Sheamus is becoming one of the more popular faces in the company so pairing them up could lead to a great World Title match if it is done right.

One thing I think needs to happen is Sheamus needs to really be able to show his power and end up slamming Big Show after a few failed attempts in the same way Hogan did with Andre all those years ago.

Watching someone be able to lift Big Show is always an impressive thing to see and Sheamus is probably one of the few people who are powerful enough to do it and haven't had the chance.

The fact that Sheamus won the Rumble shows me that WWE sees him as a main event player again after pushing him too fast when he first debuted and then pulling him back down to the mid-card.

Big Show is also one of WWE's more popular superstars and giving him the title for more than 45 seconds would make a lot of fans happy. Show has his detractors as well, but when you read live reports from the show he is always one of the people who gets the biggest pops.

I think Sheamus and Show facing off as two baby faces who have respect for each other would be somewhat of a change from WWE's usual style, and even though it has happened before, we have not seen a good face vs face rivalry in quite some time.

If WWE is indeed setting up for this encounter then I think it is one that could really add to WrestleMania. This is only if WWE is not planning a Shaq vs Big Show match of course.

Rumors have been rampant about Shaq's involvement in WrestleMania since he mentioned it on a radio interview, but with nothing set in stone it is possible WWE either has different plans for him or they fell through altogether.

We already have the 5-star potential of Punk vs Jericho in the works, unless WWE decides to change those plans.  We have the attraction match of Undertaker vs the likely opponent Triple H and we have the powerhouse vs the monster in Big Show vs Sheamus. All in all this would be a good set of main event matches in my book.
