2012 NFL Mock Draft: Michael Floyd and Players That Will Find the Perfect Fit
The NFL draft is a complete crap shoot. This is nothing new and should come as no surprise at all.
Players can be meticulously scouted in every way, shape and form, but there is no telling how they'll turn out at the next level. It all depends on the players themselves.
But in some cases, they can be fortunate to land in the perfect situation.
We've seen it happen numerous times before, and it could very easily happen again this year.
1. Indianapolis Colts (2-14): Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
This is far from the perfect situation for Andrew Luck. If he goes to Indianapolis as many expect, he'll have to replace a living, and likely playing, legend.
2. St. Louis Rams (2-14): Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
This is a very good fit, but it is not a perfect fit. Blackmon is the weapon they desperately need.
3. Minnesota Vikings (3-13): Matt Kalil, OT, USC
Another good fit; Kalil immediately helps this team.
4. Cleveland Browns (4-12): Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
This is far from perfect and one of the more intriguing but risky scenarios come draft day.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-12): Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
This is a perfect fit for both team, player and coach. Greg Schiano needs an all-purpose running back and currently doesn't have one.
Richardson is not only a perfect all-purpose back, but he's one of the best prospects in this entire draft. He's capable of carrying a full load, can make plays out of the backfield and he's good enough to start right away.
6. Washington Redskins (5-11): Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
A reach is never a perfect fit.
7. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11): Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
The steal of the draft is a great fit for this team.
8. Carolina Panthers (6-10)*: Quinton Coples, DE, UNC
Coples' versatility and potential is too much for the Panthers to pass on.
9. Miami Dolphins (6-10)*: Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
The Dolphins are going to do everything possible to make sure they have a quarterback before the draft. If they can accomplish that, their next order of business will be to land a right tackle to help keep him safe.
Peyton Manning is expected to be released by the Colts, and Matt Flynn is also looking for a payday as well. The Dolphins desperately want Peyton, but will settle for new coach Joe Philbin's backup QB from last year, Flynn.
If the Dolphins don't need the draft to land a quarterback, Reiff is the ideal candidate to protect him opposite Jake Long.
10. Buffalo Bills (6-10): Courtney Upshaw, DE/OLB, Alabama
Another great fit and much-needed pass rusher for the Bills.
11. Seattle Seahawks (7-9)*: Devon Still, DT, Penn State
Best available player scenario helps the Seahawks' front four.
12. Kansas City Chiefs (7-9)*: Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College
Super-instinctive linebacker will be a great, great player for a long time.
13. Arizona Cardinals (8-8): Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford
This is a great fit for a team looking to make its run game a strength.
14. Dallas Cowboys (8-8): David DeCastro, OG, Stanford
The Cowboys want to put more balance into their offense. They have talented running backs, but their offensive line is still a work in progress.
DeCastro is the best interior lineman in the draft and can do just that.
If the Cowboys can better protect Romo and have a rushing game, it makes them a very dangerous team.
15. Philadelphia Eagles (8-8): Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
This is arguably the best fit in the draft. Floyd is a big-bodied, red-zone target who perfectly compliments DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin.
Floyd is the most decorated wide receiver in Notre Dame's history and a proven playmaker.
The Eagles do not have a weapon like him.
16. New York Jets (8-8): Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB, South Carolina
A good fit for a coach that can't pass up pass-rushing talent.
17. Cincinnati Bengals (via OAK 8-8): Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
The talented Crimson Tide cornerback has too much talent for the Bengals to pass him up.
18. San Diego Chargers (8-8): Nick Perry, DE/OLB, USC
Another talented pass-rusher for team that needs help at the position.
19. Chicago Bears (8-8): Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin
The massive O-lineman makes the entire Bears line better.
20. Tennessee Titans (9-7): Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
Brockers is just scratching the surface of his potential. Doesn't immediately help anybody.
21. Cincinnati Bengals (9-7): Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
Speedy playmaker is a potential heir to Cedric Benson.
22. Cleveland Browns (via ATL 10-6): Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
Big-bodied weapon is a major need for the Browns.
23. Detroit Lions (10-6): Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State
The Lions have a need at offensive tackle, and Adams is the best on the board.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4): Cordy Glenn, OG, Georgia
When don't the Steelers need O-line help?
25. Denver Broncos (8-8): Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State
Cox's versatility is a great fit for this defense.
26. Houston Texans (10-6): Mark Barron, S, Alabama
Complete safety is best the class has to offer.
27. New England Patriots (via NO 13-3): Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama
Belichick can't possibly pass up the opportunity to land Jenkins. He'll likely go higher than this.
28. Green Bay Packers (15-1): Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska
His physical style fits in well with the Packers.
29. Baltimore Ravens (12-4): Vontaze Burfict, LB, ASU
Potential replacement for Ray Lewis will need time to adapt.
30. San Francisco 49ers (13-3): Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
Speedy weapon still needs time to develop as a complete wide receiver.
31. New England Patriots (13-3): Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers
Has too much versatility to slip through to the second round.
32. New York Giants (9-7): Zach Brown, OLB, UNC
Gives the Giants plenty of options in their linebacking unit.
