WWE SmackDown: Does Hunico Have Any Chance of Regaining a Prominent Spot?

The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 7, 2018

Hunico is one of the more talented lightweight wrestlers in WWE, but with Sin Cara getting injured right in the middle of their feud he has found himself in a strange spot.

When Cara was injured it looked like WWE was going to continue with Hunico, Epico and Primo being a united team, but soon we discovered that was not the case.

Hunico gained the bodyguard Camacho, and Epico and Primo brought in Rosa to be their valet.

Hunico was in a feud with Ted DiBiase, which seemed to push neither man. DiBiase inured his hand, so Hunico was once again left without a feud.

The question that must be asked is can Hunico gain back a prominent spot on SmackDown? One thing that is certainly not working in Hunico's favor is his gimmick.

The generic gansta-style wrestler is one we have seen before and do not need to see again. His ring attire is exactly like Konnan's back in WCW, and his low-rider bike entrance is just strange.

The biggest problem with Hunico is that WWE does not know how to use him properly, which has always been a problem with WWE and cruiserweights.

Hunico needs someone quick and agile, like he is, in order to have an interesting feud this early in his WWE run, then down the line he can branch out into bigger feuds.

Rey Mysterio followed this path, and now he is one of the biggest names in wrestling. Is Hunico the next Rey? Probably not, but the same type of ascension might still work.

I like Hunico for what he bring to the WWE in terms of a fresh style, but his gimmick is stale and probably somewhat offensive to some.

If Sin Cara comes back anytime soon then I think WWE needs to restart their feud right away if either man wants a chance of being more than an afterthought in WWE.

Sin Cara was already disappointing in how his initial run with the company went, and Hunico was brought in to stay under the mask during a suspension. Now Hunico is his own man, but his push is non-existent.

I hope Hunico is given a chance to show what he can do against someone with a similar style soon, because he is going to keep falling down the ladder if he isn't.

What do you think, is it possible for Hunico to push past his gimmick and become great?
