WWE Weekly 5: Ideas for Newer/Better Theme Songs for Wrestlers

The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 7, 2018

Sometimes a wrestler's entrance music can really add or take away from their character. If someone has a generic rock song with a few chords, it is less memorable than having a well-known song used.

This does not happen that often, because WWE would have to pay licensing rights every time they used a song by an artist who is under a record deal.

While they have done this a few times for guys like Triple H, CM Punk and Undertaker, they have far more talents who use unknown rock songs or generic in-house themes.

I have some good ideas for what WWE could use as entrance music for certain superstars, even if it is just a one-time use like Undertaker using Johnny Cash's song at Mania.

Here are a list of five superstars and popular songs I feel could be better entrance music, even if it is just one time.

The Undertaker: Gimme Shelter, The Rolling Stones

1 of 5

I know this one might seem a bit strange, but I was recently watching someone play WWE '12, and they had set this as his theme song.

It was awesome.

The tune almost sounds like it was timed up perfectly with his entrance, because he starts to walk to the ring right as the guitar kicks in.

Anyone who owns WWE '12 should try this out, because I think you would keep it.

Taker and others have been known to use new music once in awhile, even for one-off matches, so this would be an excellent choice for his song, perhaps at WrestleMania.

Kane: Sleep Now in the Fire, Rage Against the Machine

2 of 5

Kane has been using different variations and arrangements of the same song for years—it's time for a change.

"Sleep Now in the Fire" is the perfect choice for Kane because it is a quick-moving rock song with plenty of references to fire to match Kane's persona.

This song is one that many fans will be familiar with, because it was a decently popular hit for Rage Against the Machine at the time.

Kane is a great wrestler, but I think he needs some new music to keep him more interesting.

Daniel Bryan: Eye of the Tiger, Survivor

3 of 5

I am not sure this one really needs a whole lot of explanation.

"Eye of the Tiger" is a song made famous by Rocky, but it has been used in tons of films and TV shows since then.

It is usually associated with an underdog and/or played during training montages.

Bryan, despite being a heel, is definitely an underdog.

He has used goofy music in the past like "Flight of the Valkyries," so I think this would fit right in with the rest of the songs he has used.

Tell me you wouldn't mark out like crazy if come WrestleMania, Bryan is about to enter and "Eye of the Tiger" kicks in. It would be epic and get him a face reaction for sure.

Sheamus: I'm Shipping Up to Boston, Dropkick Murphys

4 of 5

When Sheamus first showed up, I thought his music fit his heel character well, but now that he is a face, I think he needs something a little more upbeat.

This song from Dropkick Murphys would work well for Sheamus, because it is quicker paced than his current theme and is a very popular song already.

WWE would also be able to integrate more relatable and recognizable music if they used this song, and it would be cheaper than most of the other songs on this list in terms of licensing rights.

Many people who are not familiar with the band may recognize the song as having prominent placement in the film The Departed.

Bella Twins: More and More, Blood Sweat and Tears

5 of 5

Before anyone says anything—yes, I know BST is an old group and the Bellas are young women, but I think this song would fit them well.

It is upbeat, catchy and has a chorus line literally asking for more and more.

Who else could provide someone with double the fun than the Bellas?

I think this is probably the least fitting change on the list because the song doesn't match their style much, but I like the Bellas as an entertainment duo and I love BST, so I decided to see what it sounded like.

Surprisingly, it worked. I did the same thing my friend did with Undertaker and Rolling Stones on WWE '12 with the Bellas and BST, and it actually kind of fit nicely.

I know this may seem ridiculous to a lot of people, but trust me when I say it would work.
