WWE News: Triple H Reportedly Called for Sheamus to Win Royal Rumble 2012

Justin WatryMay 31, 2018

Honestly, the headline is not much of an issue with me. The title of this article is not really much of a "story" as some may think. However, there are a few other issues in the news story.

According to this report, Triple H called for Sheamus to win the Royal Rumble, and it was decided last week. As most know, the two are friends and work out together on the road.

The same story goes on to note that Randy Orton was originally set to win the Rumble, before plans were changed to have Chris Jericho win. Plans also included the possibility of John Cena winning the Rumble to decide if he wanted the title shot or the match against The Rock at WrestleMania.

All of this in one story!

My thoughts?

This news story is exactly what I always discuss.

You can't believe everything you read online. Unless you have your own "sources," very little of what is reported means much.

Let's look at this report again.

Orton was set to win the Rumble? Okay, that makes sense. He lost a lot towards the end of 2011, and the Rumble was taking place from his hometown. That is fine.

Then Jericho returns! Now he is the favorite because of his teases on Raw. Again, it certainly makes sense with a WWE title feud against CM Punk on the horizon. Again, that would seem logical.

In the end, Triple H decided Sheamus as the winner last week?

Wow.

Basically, the report is just covering themselves no matter what happens. If Orton won, it was the plan all along. If Jericho won, it made the most sense. If Sheamus won, it was Triple H's call. If Cena won, it was an interesting turn the company took.

Again, believe what you want. I will just believe that Sheamus deserved to win, and his 2012 is going to be a huge year. That is what I will believe.

My favorite part of the story is a quote from Triple H. Here is his exact quote talking about the closest thing to himself in Sheamus:

"

"The closest to me is probably Sheamus, because we always train together on the road. But I try to watch all the young guys' matches and give them advice, if they want to hear it. If they take advice to heart and really want to improve, then I'm wanting to help. As for seeing some of myself in someone? That's tough. Sheamus just the other day showed up at a show he didn't have to be at. He does whatever he's asked to do without complaining, he goes to every show and is always wanting to work: he does it all, goes above and beyond. That's what I was like."

Remember what I always say: What happens behind the scenes will always be more important than what happens in front of the camera!

Sheamus shows dedication. He takes advice well. He doesn't complain. He was at a show he didn't even have to be at!

That right there is what I took from this report. I could name wrestler after wrestler who will always feel "misused" or find themselves "buried," yet at the same time complain, show up late, scoff at others' suggestions, want time off, etc.

Sheamus is what they call a professional. A lot could learn from that, before ever getting a "push" they think they deserve.

Once again, I congratulate Sheamus on his huge win. Not because of plans changing. Not because of Triple H. Not because of anything else but because he deserved it.
