WWE Elimination Chamber 2012: Can Daniel Bryan Go to WrestleMania as Champion?

Warning, this article contains minor spoilers for this week's SmackDown.

Daniel Bryan will defend his World Heavyweight Championship at The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view against five other competitors.

If he retains the title, is almost a guarantee that he will go on to WrestleMania 28 and compete on one of the main event matches.

As of right now there looks to be four big attraction matches: The WWE title match, World Title match, Undertaker's match and Rock vs Cena.

That is certainly a lot of matches to label as main events, so it is possible Bryan will be able to hold on to the belt through Mania.

Under normal circumstances, WWE would only want their biggest names in the title matches at Mania. But with other things taking more of the spotlight, they may decide to keep the belt on Bryan.

If he is able to fend off the five other men in the chamber than it is possible we could see Sheamus take on Bryan, if he so chooses. After Sheamus won the Rumble, he was given a choice as to who he would face at Mania.

So far he has not decided, but chances are good that the WWE title match will be between Punk and Jericho which is why it seems likely Sheamus will face Bryan. According to spoilers posted at TWNP News, we already know who will be in this year's Chamber match.

WWE could always go the other way though. Putting the title on Orton, Barrett, Rhodes or Big Show would give Sheamus other worthy opponents to face at Mania. Khali seems less likely of a choice.

In my opinion, the smart move for WWE would be to keep the belt on Bryan, at least until WrestleMania comes around.

Bryan needs to be taken more seriously than the bigger guys, so having him hold the belt for more than two months will go a long way towards helping his credibility.

The Raw Chamber match looks like it will be more entertaining, but I am actually more interested in who will win the SmackDown chamber match.
