College Football Recruiting Rankings 2012: Stefon Diggs and Stars Yet to Commit

Donald WoodFeb 1, 2012

With the 2012 national signing day being one of the wildest in a long time, teams across the nation have almost completely set their scholarships.

Not so fast, though. With stars like Stefon Diggs and Davonte' Neal not committing on NSD, there will still be more fun to be had over the coming weeks.

All of the following players will not be committing on Wednesday, but will be making a program much better when they do make their decision over the next few days.

Stefon Diggs, ATH

While many teams would kill to have an athlete like Stefon Diggs, it looks like Auburn, California, Florida and Ohio State are the finalists for the service of the 13th-ranked player in the ESPN top 150.

Diggs has sprinter speed while maintain a 6’0” and 185 pound frame that whatever team finally corrals him can use as either a running back or wide receiver on offense. He is also a solid talent that could work on defense as well.

With all the versatility a team could ever want in a pure athlete, Diggs will be highly coveted until the last possible second. He will make his choice on February 10.

Davonte' Neal, ATH

Arizona, Arkansas, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Ohio State are still in the mix for arguably the second-best wide receiver prospect and return man, Davonte' Neal.

Neal is a smaller wide receiver (5’10” and 175 pounds) but offers some of the best speed (4.4 40-yard dash) in the 2012 recruiting class. That’s got slot receiver written all over them.

While no date has been set, Neal reportedly has no plans of signing on national signing day. There are talks that he will be visiting Arizona on February 10 as well.

Jordan Diamond, OT

With one of best offensive linemen in the recruiting process this season, Jordan Diamond, not committing until February 10, the nerves for all the schools pursuing him have to continue awhile longer.

The 6’6”, 289 pound tackle is considering Michigan, Auburn, Arkansas and Wisconsin, but there are serious questions left about which he will choose.

While many people may claim that holding on until after national signing day is ridiculous, this is a huge life choice and something that should not be rushed. Its Diamond’s life, he can decide when he is ready.
