National Signing Day: Stefon Diggs Sets Announcement Date, Enjoys Florida Visit
Stefon Diggs is one of the most talented athletes in the class of 2012, and after his most recent visit with the Florida Gators, it was finally revealed when the versatile player would make his college choice.
According to Derek Tyson of ESPN, Diggs will announce his decision on February 10, which is nine days after National Signing Day.
Having already visited California and Auburn, Diggs told Tyson that, "the Florida trip was an awesome trip."
This is great news for Gators fans, especially since Florida was once thought to be the leader. Tyson also stated that Diggs is likely to take a trip to see Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes next.
"I have a lot to think about before my next visit," Diggs said. "But I feel comfortable at Florida."
The race for this superbly skilled athlete is heating up, and it's tough to gauge where Diggs will actually end up. He hasn't been giving many hints, as his recruitment has been wide open for quite some time.
After his Auburn visit, Diggs told The Huntsville Times that the Tigers were his best visit yet. His opinion could have easily changed by now, and it's possible it could change again.
Zach Abolverdi covers recruiting for The Gainesville Sun, and he tweeted something he heard from one of the Gators' verbally committed recruits.
Of course, this is just talk, but it is something the Gators can smile about. After he visits with the Buckeyes though, he might be saying something completely different.
Diggs has a lot to think about in the coming weeks, and he's probably smart to wait until after National Signing Day to make sure he is picking the right school.
Rivals states his top five include Auburn, California, Florida, Maryland and Ohio State, and your guess is as good as mine as to where he ends up.
One thing is for sure, though, wherever Diggs lands, that school is getting an insanely gifted athlete with skills to play on offense or defense. He'll most likely be a running back and wide receiver hybrid who also makes plays in the return game.
