National Signing Day 2012: Top Uncommitted Players Announcing After Feb. 1
Several of the nation's best recruits will make their college choice on National Signing Day, but some of the elite prospects will go against the norm and decide afterward.
February 1 is the first day recruits cans sign a National Letter of Intent. However, some need extra time to figure out which program they wish to play for.
A lot of recruits like to have the spotlight of National Signing Day, but those who wait will still receive a ton of attention once they make their decision.
Some of them might just be waiting to see which schools other elite recruits pick so they can then narrow down their choice.
With that said, here are a few of the top uncommitted players planning on announcing after National Signing Day.
Stefon Diggs, ATH
Arguably the best athlete in the class of 2012, Diggs has been extremely secretive during his recruiting process.
For a while, Diggs just had a top eight, but after visiting four schools it's clear which programs he's thinking about the most.
USA Today reports that Auburn, California, Florida, Maryland and Ohio State are his "most prominent pursuers." He officially visited all of those schools except for Maryland, but he is from that state.
Diggs will announce on February 10.
Davonte Neal, ATH
Neal is the other guy that rivals Diggs for the top athlete in the class of 2012 and it's going to be interesting to see where they both end up and how their careers finish.
Both are likely to be major impact players on offense and especially in the return game.
According to Rivals, Neal is considering Arizona, Arkansas, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Ohio State. If the Buckeyes land both Diggs and Neal, that would be very big for Urban Meyer's first recruiting class.
As reported by azcentral.com, Neal plans to announce "some time after Signing Day."
He is expected to visit Arizona on February 10, which leads me to believe the Wildcats have the best chance at landing him. A last-minute recruit pitch by Rich Rodriguez could do wonders for Arizona.
Jordan Diamond, OT
According to Sporting News, Diamond will make his announcement at 8 p.m. on Friday.
As reported by the Detroit Free Press, Diamond will decide between Michigan, Auburn, Arkansas and Wisconsin.
Rivals has him as a 4-star recruit and the No. 28 offensive tackle for the class of 2012. There is also a large belief that he will pick Brady Hoke and the Michigan Wolverines.
Listed at 6'6", 289 pounds, Diamond is definitely a player to watch out for in the next couple of years. Depending on where he lands, he could see plenty of action right away or wait a year or two to be really ready to shine.
