2012 NFL Draft: Senior Bowl Disappointments Whose Stock Won't Drop

Tim KeeneyJun 7, 2018

How one game against a bunch of other seniors can change someone's NFL draft stock so much is beyond me, but it happens nonetheless.

Plenty of players saw their stock drop last week in Mobile. However, it's not a death sentence by any means. They can still bounce back.

Here's a look at three players who struggled at the Senior Bowl, but won't see their stock take a huge hit.

Chris Polk, RB, Washington

After a poor week of practice, Polk got just six carries in the big game and netted a measly 15 yards. He also failed to catch a pass.

Now, I've heard people say Polk has dropped to a third-round pick.

I should mention, though, those people are crazy.

Polk is still a late first- or early second-round pick. His burst is suddenly being questioned, but he is still extremely hard to bring down and possesses fantastic pass-catching ability out of the backfield. That makes him extremely valuable in the NFL.

I still like Polk right after Lamar Miller as far as running backs go.

Dwight Jones, WR, North Carolina

Jones had an atrocious week in Mobile, as he constantly had trouble getting off of press coverage and had even more problems creating separation.

For a receiver that big (6'4", 225 pounds), not being able to get off the line is trouble.

Still, though, Jones pulled in 85 catches and 12 touchdowns during his senior season, so he's far from untalented. He's very athletic and can still make a big play when called upon. He has conceivably dropped very far, but I'd still take a gamble on Jones in the middle rounds.

Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State

During the week of practice, there was talk about how Adams was disappointing and was having trouble with his footwork.

Because of that, whether it shows inconsistency or what, it may just drop Adams' stock.

Still, he had a very good game and put together dominating performances against guys like Quinton Coples and Courtney Upshaw. Despite the up-and-down performance throughout the week, Adams remains an easy first-round pick.
