"Manchester United have completed an audacious move for Manchester City's teenage defender Frederic Veseli.
The 19-year-old celebrated the switch with family and friends at Manchester restaurant San Carlo.
The free transfer came as a surprise to City, who were hoping the Swiss Under 19 captain would extend his stay at the Etihad.
"
With injuries continuing in the defense a concern for Manchester United this season, Veseli will likely see himself added to the first team to provide Man U with some much-needed depth.
And while Veseli hasn't seen playing time for Man City this year, it's nonetheless a coup for the Red Devils to acquire a young player with Veseli's potential away from the Blues.
It's not the sexiest move at this moment, of course—this is certainly more a move for the future than it is for the present. But it's a positive move for United's future and a negative move for City's future, and that makes the move just a little bit sweeter for Red Devil fans.
