Tom Brady Will Regret 'Victory Party' Comments at Super Bowl XLVI
On Sunday at Gillette Stadium, about 25,000 New England Patriots fans gave Tom Brady and Co. a warm sendoff.
But it's what Brady told the crowd that has made headlines.

"“We're going down there, and we're going down there for one reason. We're going to give it our best and hopefully we have a lot more people at our party next weekend.”
"
Of course, Brady was talking about going down to Indianapolis and uprooting the New York Giants. You knew New York media outlets were going to eat this up. ESPN New York: “Brady planning victory party.” New York Post: “Tom’s Taunt.” New York Daily News: “Party of Jive: Hey Giants! Brady already talking about a victory bash.”
To be fair, Brady was in front of 25,000 crazed Patriots fans.
Said Brady:
"“Well, it was a pep rally. People were pretty excited. Certainly, players were excited. I know 25,000 fans who were there were excited as well. It was great to see the support. We get great support, home and away, and hopefully we have some Patriots jerseys in the stands next Sunday night.”
"
Nonetheless, Brady has to be careful about being too confident, especially against the Giants, who beat his previously undefeated team in the Super Bowl four years ago.
Before Super Bowl XLII, Brady scoffed at a prediction that the Patriots would score only 17 points. A few days later, they had scored 14 points in a 17-14 shocker courtesy of Eli Manning and Co. (see obnoxious, anti-Patriots video below).
Despite the Patriots being favored in the sportsbooks leading up to Super Bowl XLVI, a lot of people think the Giants will beat the Patriots again this time around. They not only have a well-balanced offense, they also have a pass rush that can create enough pressure to slow Brady down.
They have three defensive linemen—Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora—who are dynamic pass-rushers. Pierre-Paul had 16.5 sacks this season in a breakout year. Umenyiora played in only nine games this season and had nine sacks. And Tuck added five sacks. Umenyiora has been especially dangerous during the playoffs, racking up 3.5 sacks in three games, including two against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
I don't think anything Brady said on Sunday was that over-the-top. But that doesn't mean he won't regret what he said after the Super Bowl.
The Giants have shown before they can surprise.
