Could Dorial Green-Beckham Be a Multiple-Sport Athlete in College?
Dorial Green-Beckham is regarded as the top wide receiver prospect in the country by virtually every recruiting ranking service. Green-Beckham is a beast on the outside, checking in at 6’6” 220. He also runs in the 4.4 40-yard dash range.
Green-Beckham has taken official visits to three schools in the football recruiting process. He visited Texas in the fall, and then had visits to Arkansas and Missouri this January. There are reports that he is expected to sign with Missouri tomorrow. For every report of his signing, however, there are others that say Arkansas will be his destination.
For all of the hoopla that surrounds the football talents of Green-Beckham, there are also talents on the track field and basketball court that could shine in a major collegiate program. Will his ability to contribute in additional sports help steer his decision? Is it even in the cards?

Track and Field
1 of 4Green-Beckham has a freakish top-end speed for his size. He ran track in high school and claimed titles throughout his career on the track field. He was a star in the 100-meter and could likely hold his own at the collegiate level.
If Green-Beckham is to play multiple sports, the least likely of the sports appears to be track and field. He has the talent to be good, but not great, and running on the track team won’t likely help his status as an athlete pursuing a professional career.
Look for Green-Beckham to avoid the track lanes and stick to the basketball courts if he strays into another sport other than football.
Basketball

His adoptive father, also his high school head coach, mentions in this profile of Green-Beckham that he always expected his recruiting prowess to come in basketball.
Green-Beckham is very dominant as a basketball player and is playing his senior year. Beckham could make an impact for his new school on the basketball court, but that doesn’t appear to be in the cards. If he were to make the move, he could fit right in and likely play by his second year.
Green-Beckham is such a unique talent that he could star in two sports at the collegiate level and handle the physical rigors that would come along with two full seasons.
Football
3 of 4Where Dorial Green-Beckham is headed to make the biggest impact will obviously be on the gridiron. Beckham is a the best receiver in this year’s class and has the ability to make a major impact immediately, no matter the program that he lands in.
It looks to be down to Missouri and Arkansas, but whichever team he ends up signing with will make him a star. At Arkansas, he will become a national showcase, while at Missouri, he could be the lone star on the team.
Green-Beckham will be making plays that some seniors can’t the minute that he enrolls, and football is where he will make his living well into the future.
Will He Stick to Football or Star in Multiple Sports?
4 of 4Dorial Green-Beckham has the ability to make an instant impact in multiple sports at the collegiate level. He has skills on the basketball court that mix with his elite athleticism that create mismatches for opponents.
He also has the ability to burn the competition in long sprints and can win track competitions. He will not make it to the Olympics with his sprinting ability, but he could make an impact. Green-Beckham could make an impact, but he likely won’t.
Football is projected to be his best fit and the best projection for future development. He has the athleticism to make a major impact immediately and will grow into a program and become the premier receiver for his team.
