Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Mats Hummels Is a Perfect Deadline Day Target
Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund would be a perfect young star for Manchester United to target on transfer deadline day as the club looks to improve their defensive quality.
Hummels is one of the best centre-backs in the world and is someone who United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could mold into a top player in the Premier League.
The Red Devils were interested in signing the German defender earlier in the season and would be wise to make a bold move to secure the transfer of Hummels on deadline day.

With top defenders Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand battling injuries this season, and Vidic now out for the season, United need another quality centre-back if they are to repeat as Premier League champions.
Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are not of the same quality as Vidic and Ferdinand, but Hummels is.
The German star is a tremendous defender with his strength, size and football intelligence. He is also composed with the ball on his feet and is able to find midfielders with spot-on passes to start the attack towards goal.
Hummels is only 23 years old and has lots of experience, which included many matches for Dortmund and 12 caps for the German team at the international level.
He would have little trouble fitting in with United and his strong defensive playing style is well-suited for the Premier League.
With Dortmund fighting for the Bundesliga title and Hummels wanting to impress the German coaches ahead of the European Championships this summer, a transfer to Old Trafford is unlikely, but it would be a smart move for Ferguson going forward.
Even though his price may be inflated this window, he would be a great addition to a United defense that needs to improve with Ferdinand and Vidic missing long stretches of time due to injury.
