WWE Royal Rumble 2012: 4 Wrestlers the Royal Rumble Needed
The Royal Rumble has come and gone. Sheamus pulled off a shocking win as he stood as the lone survivor in the 2012 Royal Rumble match.
The ending was definitely a surprise and it will be interesting to see where the WWE goes from here. However it felt like there was something missing.
In the past the Royal Rumble has been filled with the top superstars and surprising returns like John Cena or Edge, and also some shocking legends.
The biggest thing that was supposed to be different about this Royal Rumble was that all wrestlers were eligible to participate. However only Big Show and Dolph Ziggler pulled double duty in the Royal Rumble.
While having Road Dogg Jesse James and Hacksaw Jim Duggan come out was surprising, a bigger name would have made this event more special.
Here are four wrestlers that should have been in the Royal Rumble match.
Goldust
1 of 4Cody Rhodes was responsible for eliminating basically all the legends in the Royal Rumble match. There has been talks of late of a match between Rhodes and his brother Goldust at WrestleMania.
It would have been exciting if Goldust came out and focused all his attention on his brother. Rhodes could have eliminated Goldust and then Goldust could have grabbed Rhodes and attacked him.
This would have led to a match at WrestleMania between Cody Rhodes and Goldust.
Kane
2 of 4The Royal Rumble had become synonymous with Kane as he has been in 13 consecutive events, eliminated a record 11 wrestlers while spending almost an hour in the 2001 Rumble, and is second to only Shawn Michaels in total career eliminations.
Kane should have came out to further his dominance of late. He could have cleared the ring early on, of superstars like Hunico and Epico.
He could have passed Shawn Michaels and as the Undertaker has the WrestleMania streak, Kane has the Royal Rumble.
It didn't feel the same without the Big Red Monster in the Royal Rumble match.
Undertaker
3 of 4Undertaker might not have returned because he still isn't fully healthy.
However when the No. 30 entrant was being counted down, it would have been exciting if Undertaker's music started and he came out to the ring and choke-slammed his WrestleMania opponent (possibly Chris Jericho) and then flipped out of the ring, eliminating himself.
The Royal Rumble was missing a big surprise return and the roof would have been blown off the arena if the lights went out again like it did for Jericho and Undertakers music started playing.
The Rock
4 of 4The Rock and John Cena are heading into their match at WrestleMania which is being hyped as the greatest match in the history of sports entertainment.
The feud has not really had much steam as of late and needs to pick up if they want it to actually be the greatest match in sports entertainment history.
So far the Rock has had the upper-hand on John Cena and it has made Cena seem weak. The Rock could have came out in the Rumble and Cena could have came out not as a Rumble entrant but eliminated the Rock from the match.
This would have helped throw some more fire on the feud and help prepare for the build up of the match.
