Dorial Green-Beckham Rumor: Sources Say Top Prospect Will Select Missouri

As expected, the original report that you can see below caused a huge stir, and it didn't take long for someone close to Dorial to speak up. 

After talking with Green-Beckham's adoptive father, Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.com is now reporting that Dorial selecting Missouri is indeed false.

Dorial Green-Beckham, the most highly coveted recruit in the country, has reportedly made his decision to play for the Missouri Tigers, according to sources. 

John Hoover writes for Tulsa World, and his sources tell him Green-Beckham is choosing Missouri over schools like Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. 

If true, this is a huge surprise. Many expected the 6'6", 220-pound wide receiver would pick the Arkansas Razorbacks, but this report states he will stay in his home state and play for Gary Pinkel and the Tigers.

What It Means 

It's important to note that this is not truly official. While it's coming from a respected media outlet, nothing is ever set in stone until we hear from Green-Beckham himself, and even then it's not certain until he signs his national letter of intent. 

Verbal commits don't mean much these days, and rumored reports mean even less. However, it certainly is big news because there hasn't been much on where Green-Beckham is leaning. 

The nation's No. 1 recruit has kept quiet about where he intends to play college football, forcing tons of fans, coaches and players to anxiously await for his word. 

Still, if this is indeed true, the Tigers are getting a huge addition to their young team. With Missouri's move to the SEC, the Tigers desperately needed Green-Beckham more than any other school. 

If Green-Beckham does go to Missouri, the Tigers definitely become a team to watch for in 2012. The talented receiver was a dominant force in high school, and many expect he won't miss a beat once he hits the college level. 

What Happens Next 

We'll definitely have to wait for the official word from Green-Beckham. It was believed that he would make his announcement on National Signing Day, and that's probably the next time we will hear from Green-Beckham.  

The spotlight will continue to remain on Green-Beckham for the next couple of days, even more so with this news coming out. Feb. 1 is a big day for college football recruiting, and everyone wants to know where Green-Beckham is going. 

Green-Beckham is easily the one recruit who will make the biggest impact as a freshman. He is sure to be a star with his blazing speed, big frame and exceptional hands. 

If this report is in fact true, the Tigers' first season in the SEC won't be as bad as some expected. They have a good quarterback in James Franklin, and Green-Beckham will definitely make him better. 

Green-Beckham gives Missouri that amazing playmaker they've been lacking at the wideout position, but Tigers fans shouldn't get too excited just yet because he could always say something completely different from this report on national signing day.
