WWE Rumors: Sheamus, Mike Tyson, Chris Jericho and Monday's Top WWE News

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

The Road to WrestleMania officially began last night. If the next two months are anything like what we saw last night, it is going to be a bumpy ride. Sheamus outlasted 29 other wrestlers to win the right to challenge for either the World Title or WWE title at the mega-event, which was a surprise in itself.

We will break down what Sheamus's victory means and how it affects other stars. Also, we will have an update on the latest Hall of Fame Inductee. It is going to be a busy day in WWE, and we've got it covered for you.

Here is all the WWE news that is fit to print on this Monday after the Royal Rumble.

SHEAMUS'S RUMBLE WIN ANOTHER BAD SWERVE FOR WWE

Nothing against the Irishman but, before the Rumble started, nobody expected him to win. He was not booked like a top guy worthy of a title match at WrestleMania. So, naturally, WWE did the wrong thing and put him over at the end.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Is it going to be Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania?

Our Take: Don't count on it. It would be a good match, but it's hardly the kind of title match that Vince McMahon wants on his biggest show. Expect someone like Mark Henry to become champion at the Elimination Chamber.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Dangerous Swerves

It is hard to dislike the Sheamus character. He is fun and worked really hard to get better after an early push that did not do him a lot of favors. But, there is no one who saw this Rumble win coming, and that is where the problem lies.

Why Chris Jericho Should Have Won (B/R)

MIKE TYSON, WWE HALL OF FAMER

Forget Edge and the Four Horsemen. The real star of the WWE Hall of Fame Class this year will be none other than "Iron" Mike Tyson. The former boxing champion and occasional WWE enforcer will be the "celebrity" inductee this year, which really makes you wonder how desperate this company is for press.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Is Tyson worthy of the honor?

Our Take: You know what? Yes, he is. If WWE wants to put in Drew Carey and Koko B. Ware, then it clearly can do a lot worse than Tyson. Plus, he played an instrumental role in launching the popularity of Steve Austin back in 1998.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Sure-To-Be Awesome Speeches

Whatever your feelings about Tyson actually going into the Hall of Fame, it is impossible to say that he won't be entertaining. Kudos to WWE for actually inducting an outsider who played a somewhat key role in helping the company's popularity skyrocket.

SO THIS IS HOW THE WORLD ENDS?

Chris Jericho promised us that the world would end at the Royal Rumble. It turns out that the world falls apart when it is in the ring with Sheamus, and walks away at the end of the show with nothing.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Why did Jericho not win the Rumble?

Our Take: In the infinite wisdom of Vince McMahon, when the fans figure out exactly what WWE is going to do, you do something completely different. Even if the moves are bad for business, you still make them just to swerve the "marks."

Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Ways Jericho Can Turn Heel

If you want to give WWE the benefit of the doubt on this one, go right ahead. But when you do week-to-week booking, you get lame, inconsistent storylines like what we have gotten from this creative team for the last few years.

CM PUNK IS GRADING JOHNNY ACE

Shortly after retaining the WWE title, CM Punk posted a video on WWE.com where he complained some more about John Laurinaitis's job performance.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Why is Punk so angry?

Our Take: Dude, you are still a champion and Laurinaitis counted the pin. Of course, seeing the way that the Royal Rumble was booked, it is possible that Laurinaitis and Punk get fired. That would be a simple swerve for the sake of a swerve.

Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Bitter Wrestlers

Punk has gone from being a rebel outsider to just an angry, whiny character. So, it would make sense that he feels hate after winning a match. He should talk to John Cena about rising above the hate.
