Peyton Manning Rumors: Ranking the Best Situations for Manning's Next Stop

Eric BallJan 29, 2012

The worst-kept secret in the NFL is that Peyton Manning is going to be available in March.

The Indianapolis Colts have decided to go all in on the rebuilding effort and Andrew Luck is their quarterback of the future.

Once they cut him, Manning will have the opportunity to play for any team he wants to. With rumors swirling about potential destinations, here are his five best options to win another Super Bowl ring.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars

The only team on the list that ESPN’s Adam Schefter didn’t report to be interested, the Jags should be.

Blaine Gabbert regressed as the season went along and what better way for Manning to get revenge on the ugly way his Indy career ended than to land with another team in the AFC South.

4. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins certainly need a new QB, but why in the world would Manning want to go to Miami? Brandon Marshall is a head case and the running game is average at best. There just isn’t a whole lot to get excited about on offense.

Considering he’d be facing Tom Brady and the New York Jets twice a year, there are much better options for No. 18.

3. New York Jets

The Jets locker room is a mess because Mark Sanchez isn’t a leader. Manning could change that culture in a hurry. Manning would command the respect of every one of his teammates the second he entered that door.

Yet the Tom Brady factor and the loud-mouth antics of coach Rex Ryan don’t really sound like something Manning wants to be involved in.

2. Washington Redskins

Owner Dan Snyder loves the quick fix and I think Washington is going to make a huge offer to Manning.

They have an established head coach in Mike Shanahan and a veteran defense that is built to win right now. While the receiving core isn’t very impressive, that can change if the ‘Skins are lucky enough to have Justin Blackmon drop to them at pick No. 6 in the draft.

Washington can be a Super Bowl contender in 2012 with Manning on board. While it’s not a deal-breaker, I’d venture to say Manning would get the biggest contract offer from Washington.

1. Arizona Cardinals.

Remember Kurt Warner? The QB who was given up on only to reach another Super Bowl with the Cards?

With Beanie Wells and Larry Fitzgerald at his disposal, Manning is going to have plenty of help. The defense is extremely young and has improved drastically throughout the season.

He would be playing in the mediocre NFC West and would instantly be given the keys to the Cadillac. He’ll never have the power he had in Indianapolis again, but Arizona can provide him with more than any other team.

Sure, Kevin Kolb is due a ton of money, but the sooner Arizona realizes Kolb is a career backup for a reason, the better.

With Manning on board, the Cardinals would have about a three-to-four-year window where they would have a legit chance to win a Super Bowl.
