UFC on FOX Results: 5 Fights to Get Michael Bisping Back on Track

Dan HiergesellJan 29, 2012

Despite his loss to Chael Sonnen Saturday night at UFC on FOX 2, Michael Bisping still has a stake in the middleweight division.

It may take him longer to get back to the position he recently found himself in, but based on talent and drive, Bisping should be able to get there.

However, within a diverse weight class like the middleweight division, it's not going to be easy.

Here are five fights for Bisping in order to get him back on track and on the road to another No. 1 contender bout.

5. Chris Weidman

1 of 5

Wouldn't this be ironic?

Chris Weidman took Michael Bisping's spot against Demian Maia on 11 days notice after Bisping filled in for an injured Mark Munoz against Chael Sonnen at UFC on FOX 2.

Weidman looked really good against Maia and could provide Bisping with the chance to knock off one of the most talented young fighters in the UFC today.

Plus, the Brit would have the advantage of the feet—again.

4. Cung Le

2 of 5

This would be a great fight for Michael Bisping.

Cung Le loves to stand, is a big name in the MMA world and is hungry coming off his loss to Wanerlei Silva.

With a decisive victory over Le, Bisping could be one fight away from another No. 1 contender showdown.

3. Brian Stann

3 of 5

Despite getting outclassed by Chael Sonnen at UFC 136, Brian Stann is still a big name in the middleweight division.

And even though he's more powerful than Michael Bisping and poses a threat to bring him down, Stann is a straight gamer and would have problems standing and banging.

A TKO over Stann and Bisping is launched right back into contention.

2. Wanderlei Silva

4 of 5

Wanderlei Silva is still one of the biggest names in the sport.

And considering he's coming off a KO victory over Cung Le, the UFC will be looking to promote the hell out of his next fight.

Michael Bisping versus Silva in the United Kingdom?  I think so.

1. Vitor Belfort

5 of 5

While defeating Vitor Belfort would launch Michael Bisping right back into title contention, he doesn't really stack up well against the Brazilian.

Belfort is much quicker than Bisping, a more well-rounded striker and has more explosiveness in his hands to finish fights.

However, don't be surprised if Bisping asks for or gets this fight.  He's a very marketable fighter, and the UFC often caters to the needs of fighters who translate into the most revenue.
