UFC on Fox 2 Results: Recapping the Fight Night Bonuses
UFC on Fox 2 is in the books, and a handful of fighters have a few extra handfuls of cash in their pockets.
For the majority of events, the bonuses awarded by the UFC are fairly given out. That's not the case with this event.
So who earned their bonus and who should be giving their bonus check back to the UFC?
Knockout of the Night
1 of 3Lavar Johnson earned a big bonus in the opening bout of the prelims.
Facing off against a rugged (and slimmer) Joey Beltran, Johnson used one of his favorite punches, an uppercut to destroy Beltran against the cage.
Johnson's fight-ending flurry sent Beltran face-planting to the canvas and earned Johnson not only a victory in his UFC debut, but also a hefty paycheck.
Final Verdict: Completely justifiable. Beltran had never been knocked out and Johnson dominated him on the feet.
Submission of the Night
2 of 3Charles Oliveira, like Lavar Johnson, was making a debut of his own. "Do Bronx" was making his featherweight debut and didn't disappoint.
Oliveira attempted to secure a heel hook but after that failed, he transitioned to a calf-slicer to get the submission victory.
Final Verdict: This may not only be submission of the night, it could win submission of the year.
Fight of the Night
3 of 3The bout between Evan Dunham and Nik Lentz scored Fight of the Night honors and both men took home an extra $65,000.
Dunham controlled the majority of the match and the fight was stopped following the second round as a result of a cut under Lentz's left eye.
Final Verdict: Who decided this should be fight of the night? It was about as one-sided of a match as you could get and the Chael Sonnen-Michael Bisping bout surely deserved this award.
