UFC on Fox 2 Results: Is Evan Dunham Back 'In the Mix'?

Evan Dunham wanted to make a statement in his bout on UFC on Fox 2. If anyone wanted to know what he was saying, just check out this.

The night didn't start off to the best start for Dunham as he was taken down by Nik Lentz early in the first round. Dunham was able to scramble back to his feet where he used his superior striking to hit Lentz.

Lentz was able to get another takedown, but once again, Dunham rose to his feet.

This was the last moment of offense for Lentz as Dunham battered and bruised (and cut!) his opponent in virtually every facet of the game.

The fight ended after the second round when the doctors stopped the fight due to the cut under Lentz's eye. Regardless of whether or not the doctor "stole" a finish from Dunham, make no mistake about it, Evan Dunham is back.

He began his career on a roll, winning 11-straight fights that included wins over Marcus Aurelio, Efrain Escudero and Tyson Griffin.

The Dunham-hype train came to a halt after his fight with Sean Sherk in which the Oregonian came out on the losing end of a split decision. The loss failed to knock Dunham off the lightweight rankings for many MMA fans until his bout with Melvin Guillard.

Guillard was able to rock Dunham and finished the fight in the first round.

The loss left Dunham in a bit of a limbo, but he rebounded nicely with a unanimous decision win over Shamar Bailey.

The momentum gained from that fight carried over into tonight's bout in which Dunham arguably looked the best we've ever seen him.

Beating Lentz is certainly a credible win, but it will take Dunham defeating an upper-tier lightweight in order for Dunham to be considered "in the mix" for a title shot.

A bout against Jacob Volkmann would give us a barometer to see how well Dunham's defensive wrestling has improved while also giving Dunham a win over a "big-name" opponent.
