Senior Bowl 2012: Prediction Stats for Game's Top Players
After a long week of practice, the Senior Bowl finally kicks off Saturday evening, and it will be a chance for some of the top college football players in America to show what they can do.
Under the watchful eye of dozens of scouts and NFL personnel, the players in attendance will be able to step up and play in a game situation for the final time as college athletes.
Here is a look at how some of the top players in attendance should fare during the game on Saturday.
Brandon Weeden, Quarterback, Oklahoma State
1 of 5Weeden has a ton of questions surrounding him, mostly regarding the fact that he's 28 years old. But he has established himself as the best signal-caller in attendance this week with his confidence, polish and ability to absorb a ton of information in a short amount of time.
Expect him to have the best game of all the quarterbacks on Saturday.
Projection: 150 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions.
Nick Foles, Quarterback, Arizona
2 of 5Foles entered the week as the top quarterback prospect in attendance, and while he hasn't been bad, Weeden has outplayed him by a significant margin.
Foles is big (6'5" and 245 pounds), and he has a good arm and solid intangibles. The one drawback to his game is his tendency to check down a bit too much and not take chances down the field. Being safe is one thing, but being overly cautious can be a problem.
On Saturday he has to let the ball fly if he wants to catch the attention of the scouts in attendance.
Projection: 85 yards, one touchdown, one interception.
Quinton Coples, Defensive End, North Carolina
3 of 5Coples entered the week as the consensus best player in attendance, and he did nothing to dispel that notion this week.
At 6'6" and 272 pounds, Coples has a freakish combination of size, speed and overall quickness. He made the offensive lineman who faced him look foolish all week.
Coples didn't put up huge numbers in college, but he has been playing with a purpose and has clearly established himself as a force along the defensive line. I expect him to be productive on Saturday.
Projection: Five tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss.
Marvin McNutt, Wide Receiver, Iowa
4 of 5It has been a rough week for the receivers in attendance, with no one really stepping up to establish themselves as the top guy in Mobile. But Iowa's Marvin McNutt has shown flashes and could end up having a nice game on Saturday.
McNutt had 82 receptions for 1,315 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2011 for the Hawkeyes, so he clearly has the ability to be a productive pass-catcher. At 6'3" and 215 pounds, he has ideal size, and while he's not incredibly fast, he can find separation with his route-running.
McNutt needs a solid game on Saturday to improve his stock, and I think he'll be a guy the North team targets on a regular basis.
Projection: Five catches, 90 yards, one touchdown.
Marvin Ingram, Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, South Carolina
5 of 5All Ingram did this season for the Gamecocks was produce. At 6'2" and 272 pounds, Ingram can play defensive end or outside linebacker at the next level, and this week he has shown the ability to be all over the field.
He is at his best when rushing the passer as his combination of speed and power proved almost impossible to stop during this week's practices. He is always around the ball and racked up 10 sacks and two interceptions in 2011.
Expect Ingram to be explosive on Saturday, as he has been rocketing up draft boards with his performance this week.
Projection: Six tackles, one sack, three tackles for loss.
